    Question for VP9 owners..

    I got mine yesterday, and ive been playing with it specially trying to get used to the grip and trigger. I noticed after I pull the trigger, I keep it pressed and while I rack the slide to feel the re-set there is a loud click/pop sound immediately. Is this normal? It does not sound like this on any of my glocks or other striker fired guns ive had before. Do you guys experience the same thing?

    Besides that everything functions very well. If the trigger is not held down while racking the slide that loud sound does not happen. Its only while the trigger is kept down while re-cocking the striker. Is this normal??

    ✟ In the beginning was the 1911, and the 1911 was THE pistol, and it was good. And behold the Lord said, "Thou shalt not muck with my disciple John's design for it is good and it workith. For John made the 1911, and lo all of his weapons, from the designs which I, the Lord, gave him upon the mountain."✟

        congrats on the purchase.

        Out of all the guns i have bought this year, the VP9 is the most accurate. Maybe it is the way the particular gun fits me, i don't know but I shoot lights out with it.

        As far as the sound it is making, I have no clue.

          In short, a lot happens in the first bit of slide travel that creates the locking sounds. The loudest is the disconnector dropping the trigger bar below the sear release catch. Remove the slide, press the trigger all the way, then use your finger to press down the release bar which is the outer most bar to the right side of frame. The release bar (#18 on the parts diagram) does two things:

          1. It resets sear catch so it can grab the striker on it's way back;

          2. It makes sure that the striker cannot be released when the slide is out of battery which it controlled by the small relief area in the slide just above the hump in the release bar. If the slide is slightly off, the release bar will drop the trigger bar.

          A lesser sound is the striker snapping over the striker catch, which also happens early. It should be noted that technically the VP9 cocks very early and by about 1/2-inch it is done. The rest of the slide travel is spent cartridge extraction and feeding a new one.

          I see you are local. I shoot and work on VP9's (and P30's) a lot so feel free to hit me up with questions.
