What kind of 9mm(?) is this?

Got this, basically for free in a trade for some 9mm, and was wondering what the heck kind of 9mm this is? Assuming it is 9mm luger, anybody know the details on this ammo and what the applications are? I don't plan on shooting it, but it does look pretty neat looking.

    Thanks!

It's 9mm Swedish Training Ammunition that fires a 5mm steel ball.

It was made for very short range practice. Normally won't cycle and unless you are standing on top of your target you will never find where that dang ball bearing went.

I will add I believe these were designed for the M45 and M45/B subguns. They used a training barrel for them, but I am not 100% on that fact. I would guess you might get 1000 fps out of it. I have heard you can hit targets at 100 ft, but I never got on paper at 100 ft.

Ps. If anyone wants an ungodly amount of this stuff let me know. I have to have about 1000 rounds floating around the shop.

^^ This is how i understand it as well. Not 100% on this.

See Link:www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=271376I figure just for the price, even if it does not cycle my gun would be fun to try anyway. Was I wrong about it! Ordered the 864rds case, figure it's

"Unique Swedish mfr. plastic bullet. This ammo was intended for the Swedish M45 "K" submachine gun using a special barrel. The barrel has a tapered area that crushes the plastic portion of the bullet to dust then transitions to a smooth bore of about 5mm for the "BB". This improves the accuracy and gives the required chamber pressure to cycle the gun. Shooting this ammo in a regular barrel could cause barrel damage. 864 rds./case, 36 rds./box. Non-corrosive, Berdan primed."

Think I'd be careful shooting a bullet that has a big "X" on the drawing of the bullet.
