M&P 9 Shield CA version mods

I have a shield in jail. 9 CA version.

After I shoot it a while, I may look at some mods for it. Sights, and mag disconnect. Any other recommendations?

    TIA

Apex trigger would be the first one I would do.

I just got one too. I put talon grips on mine and love it.

Talon grip is the first thing I did. Wife got me some TFO sights for xmas, I'll be sending the slide out for a nice hard chrome dip, apex USB and sight install. While that's being done I'm adding the apex trigger and hard sear.

Pretty much going to be like this.

I got a new Shield 9mm a couple of months ago and I absolutely love it. However, my Shield came with these two weird circles ghosted into the side of the slide. I also wanted to give the gun a unique look, as it's only available in all black. So I sent my slide off to Accurate Plating and...

talon grips and maybe sights is all it needs. trigger pull is perfect for carry, imo. although the apex trigger is a good option if you don't like the hinged m&p trigger

For what it is, it's good to go out of the 'cardboard' box. I'd rather spend improvements on other guns with greater returns.

M&P 9 Shield CA version mods

Just picked up my non ca shield last week. Had them install the apex trigger kit while it was being drosed. Put the talon grips on the day she came home. Looking at some ameriglo sights next.

Apex sear and spring. Practice and more practice. Needs nothing else.

On my Shield, I just polished the contact points of the sear and striker block.

If you have no prior experience with the Shield or any other M&P pistols, just shoot it before you do anything.

The Shield trigger is much improved over older M&P triggers. And this trigger has since been migrated to the rest of the M&P line (maybe with exception of the 45, not sure on that). Shoot it first. Get familiar with it first before deciding for yourself what needs to be altered.

Everyone shoot differently and have different eyes and hands. Copying what someone else has done to theirs without comparing notes with your own experiences is NOT the money-smart thing to do.

However, here are some things that most people will find beneficial:
                    -Talon grip wraps
                    -Pearce grip extension/magazine base plate
                    -NDZ grip extension/magazine base plate
                    -Baby UpLula magazine loader

Hey... Hickok45 is doing one hell of a job pushing those Talon grips!

Tell me he's not getting a nice kick-back... because Tractiongrips.com uses the same material, only they charge less than half the price.

Remove LCI from slide, remove crappy red paint, it chips off easily using your fingernail, sharpie the white lettering, and re-install. don't lose the tiny spring!

I also installed the 10-8 rear sight with an Ameriglow lumi-lime tritium front, Apex aluminum trigger and action kit, but I agree with the above poster that it is best to use it first before changing these things.

I was pleasantly surprised with how well it shot out of the box. I had plans of an apex trigger but after shooting it I have decided not to.

                            Shoot it first. Then mod.

Talon grips really tightened up my groups! The trigger is pretty good, though I put an APEX kit in and it did make it better. Sights are decent, though I will eventually put some Trijicon HD's on it.
