1911 Gunsmith for Blued Commander Bobtail Conversion

    Hello all

I have a Blued Colt Commander that I want to add an Ed Brown Bobtail and Beavertail. I already have the parts and jigs from Ed Brown.

I may also Checker the front strap and add new sights. depending on price.

I have read many posts similar but things change and I want to be current with my info before I take the plunge. So which 1911 Gunsmiths stands out in the LA area that can do the work and blue refinishing needed.

I want to have the frame hot blued after the work is done. Cold Blue is a no go for me.

    Thanks in Advance.

Give Alan Tanaka a call, he is in Gardena. Most likely the refinishing will be sent out. I do not think Alan does any sort of bluing except for cold.

Will O'Hara is about the best 1911 smith out here, but he is well known so there's a bit of a wait which is totally worth it when you see his work. He does hot blueing on site. Here is his number (951) 371-4971.
I voted against Obama before it was cool.

It looks just plain beastly and the extra heft up front does help manage recoil a bit better. Plus, an angel told me that when God called JMB to heaven it was to build him a full rail 1911!

Thanks 1911luvr for the info. I have a 1911 Springfield Loaded I want to have work done on too. I'm in Inland Empire.
