I am moving from the free state of AZ. to the PDRK so how long do I have to register my handguns with the state Gestapo?

not sure but I'm sorry for your loss ( and anything you want to own that's not on the approved list of handguns for California should be purchased prior to you moving into California and you will unfortunately not be able to bring any mags over 10 rnds)

Don't know but I would suggest buy everything off list to bring in with you - Even if you don't want them down the road - Sell them to us, please.

You have 60 days, once you become a CA resident.

Use this form to register the handguns you bring with you.

a citizen from a free state can bring in and register a handgun which is not on their silly list?

Yes, as long as it is not classified as an assault weapon (no threaded barrels, etc.)

what is the status of the ridiculous microstamping law? once it is enforced will existing weapons be grandfathered? will replacement parts for existing weapons be legal?

Not only does the Gestapo want your guns, but you will need to report directly for the "Medical" experiment. It is what all good citizens do.

All the microstamping law does is make it impossible for any guns to be added to the "safe" list after 1/1/2010. Any handguns you buy while you live in AZ that are not CA AW (no threaded barrels or magazines outside of the grip) can come with, you just can't bring standard capacity magazines. Hell, you can bring a threaded barrel with, just never assemble your gun with it in California - use a non-threaded barrel here.

Wow, if I was that bitter about moving to a new place I wouldn't do it. All states have some funky laws but I chose to live with them because this place is so beautiful to live. In the Bay Area we are 1 hour from the beach, 2 hours from Napa wine country, 2 hours from Monterey Penisula and some of the greatest golf in the world, and 4 hours from Lake Tahoe. I have to wait 10 days to pick up a gun and there are some guns I can't own: BFD. Plenty of others you can own. Add the greatest weather you can find, what's not to like? Life is too short to live anywhere you don't want to live, if I were you I wouldn't move.

                          BFD?!?!
You mean its not a big deal that criminals carry and transport firearms illegally why the law abiding citizens are left high and dry by the all knowing politicians? This is by far the biggest frustration I have with the current set of insane laws. I WANT a proper "shall issue" CCW system. It is absolutely ridiculous that I am not allowed the RIGHT to defend myself. Admittedly, I can put up and work around many of the gun laws in this state, but that does not mean those laws are right.
