    Bobtail Charles Daly

About a year ago I traded for a Charles Daly MS 4" 1911A1 and wanted to do something different with it. I've never owned a bobtailed 1911 and figured I've only got about $300 in to the CD so why not.

I picked up the Ed Brown jigs, beavertail safety and bobtail MSH along with Ed Brown hammer, trigger, sear, safety, disconnector, etc. and dropped it all of with Jim Hoag about 7 weeks ago.

Today I got the call that it was ready and picked it up.
Hoag did an awesome job on the beavertail and bobtail, it's all blended very well and smooth as heck. All the work cost $400 so for a little over $700 I have a Charles Daly Commander with Ed Brown internals and parts customized by Jim Hoag.

Very nice! I bet it feels amazing to grip...

I held my first bobtail last week and was really impressed by the comfort of the grip.

Laws against murder and attempted murder should have been the only gun control laws ever needed in America...

Nice! I'm wanting to pick up a commander to do something similar.

This is the best shot I could get with my iPhone and lousy camera skills.

Am I the only one who prefers the feel of regular grips to a bobbed one? I just feel as though I get a better grip on the piece.

                    Nice gun, nonetheless.

                        Brilliant.

Serious bang for your buck. Pun intended.

That's going to be a great carry gun. I bobbed the tail of my Kimber Pro CDP II and love it. It's prints much less. It takes a little getting used to while shooting I guess, but I never worried about it, and I'm still accurate with it.
                          Nicely done.

The hard part is finding out which dovetail CD used, there seems to have been more than one over the course of the production run.
