advice on a trade

I have a co worker that made a trade offer to me. He wants to trade his sig 239 in 357 sig with about 1500 rounds. For a mossberg 500 tri rail shotgun i have. So what say yall? Trade or pass?

the Mossberg has stuff on it that i wouldn't have on my shotgun, and i'd want to replace the stock. i'd rather have the Sig if it's in excellent condition, although there are other Sigs i'd rather have.

yes, it is. after inspecting the Sig and being confident that it's gtg, OP would be wise to make the trade quickly.

i'm guessing that the 1500 rounds are rounds that have gone through the Sig. if the 1500 rounds are included with the deal in OP's favor, i don't know why this thread even originated. OP should have already turned the deal.

The mossberg was bought 3 years ago on a whim and stuffed in safe. The sig i would say is 95% the only marks were in the barrel from being fired. It was in real good shape. Yes the 1500 rounds come with the sig. He said he wont need it so he will throw it in. I dont own any sig pistols so i guess i just needed the "why havent you traded him yet".

This is a very lopsided trade. (in your favor). I'd try to even it out a bit or at the very least make him aware of the disparity so he doesn't come to think that you scammed him.
As others have said, just the ammo will cover the cost of your shotgun.

although the OP's co-worker initiated the talk of this trade, i believe this to be good advise if the co-worker is not gun knowledgeable; advise i should have given. if the co-worker has no idea of value regarding the guns being traded (and ammo), it would not be fair to take advantage of this.

i lost out on a 1960s Belgium BHP in like-new condition about a year ago. a co-worker offered to sell the BHP to me for $400.00 otd. i knew that he had no realistic idea of it's value, and so i referred him to Gunbroker to do a price check before selling to me. he did this, and later offered to sell the same gun to me at a price that was substantially higher than the original asking price; i declined. you win some, you lose some.
