    SSE Clarification

I'm a little late to the party and the more I google and read, the more confused I think I'm getting. Let me see if I have this correct though. If the handgun I want to buy is on this "roster" http://certguns.doj.ca.gov/safeguns.asp I can buy it (from my local Turners) AFTER Jan 1, 2015 and NOT have to do anything special other than DROS and payment. For example, the SA XD9(XD9101) or Beretta M9. But if it's not on the list, I need to buy it before Jan 1, 2015 when the SSE exception goes away. Did I understand this correctly?

Sorry for the noob question! Thanks for the input!

Correct. As far as sse goes, the last day to dros a sse pistol varies from shop to shop. For example, some shops will stop performing sse on the 20th and some shops will stop on the 31st. So make sure you check with your lgs. Good luck.

Also note there are CA versions of some pistols, and non-CA versions. Like the S&W M&P Shield, the Hk's and some others. In those cases, the CA pistols are different than the non CA pistols. So just because you see a Hk Mk25 on the safe pistol roster, it isn't the same pistol as the non CA version and in my opinion, it would be worth it to SSE the free state version while you could.

In other cases, like Glock Gen 3 and Beretta's, the pistols are the same as other states so there is no rush. Unless you want a Beretta M92A1

When you have decided which gun you want to sse, call around as some lgs have sse guns in stock. As the window for sse is rapidly closing, if you don't have to order it that saves you time. ammo paradise in anaheim and oc firearms are two places that you can check out. Good luck.

Unless you buy from a private party using the Private Party Transfer (PPT). PPTs are not subjugated by the roster.
