Just wondering who everyone thinks is the best 1911/2011 gunsmiths that nobody has heard of? There has to be people out there building unbelievable guns without the exposure the big shots get. I prefer to hear about Ca. builders if possible because that's where I'm from. I'm sure there may be a few.

Will O'Hara in Corona. He is well known in So Cal but not on a national level. He doesn't do any marketing yet always has a long wait list.Comment

Sorry OP, I DO not know anyone that far north.
^^^^ that is true for any one man operation. I rather use Springfield`s custom shop. Less hassles, and far better turnaround.Comment

Yea I was going to copy and paste a list of smiths from the 1911 forum, but those are all over the nation, idk about any specific to that area.
But yea a lot of legit smiths are under company names. Easy to work with if you have issues, they are backed by the company so you know the CS is there. With gunsmoths, CS is hit or miss, from my experience. Usually miss, private smoths dont take well to demands, changes or questions/doubts about their work. Many of which tend to leave people high and dry if they get questioned on their skills/work.Comment
