Keep checking the classifieds here and you'll come up with a good one.

May I suggest a Mark IV Series 70 or pre Series 70? Better bluing and no Series 80 bits that folks like to take out.

Don't be afraid of an 80 series because of the firing pin safety. The trigger
pull can be just as clean/crisp as any 70 series. There are additional parts
that can be bothersome in assembly/disassembly but if you are mechanically
inclined it's not a problem. My 80 series has a clean(safe) 3.5lb pull without any
        problem,that I did myself. Pete

I've heard some decent things about the Springfield, but I seriously doubt it can match the Colt. I'll admit, I've never shot the Springfield but it would interesting to hear the perspective of someone who has handled both.
There are many SA 1911s that are quite a bit more than Colt 1911 models.

Being a Colt fan is fine but you should educate yourself to what else is out there...

The unit itself is built tighter, when you shake it, it does not shake like Kimber or Colt's, but that's just personal preference on the feel system... If I get a Colt it'll be built pre-WWII, after that I believe they went downhill, again, personal opinion.

While that's a true statement, "Series 70" actually refers to Colt's guns that used a collet bushing instead of a solid barrel bushing.
