    xds front sight ????

Anyone know how tall the xds front sight is?

    If I'm measuring right I'm getting .170"

Springfield said the sight is .220" tall. Apparently they measure from the bottom of the dove tail. Dawson says .170" tall measure from top of slide to tallest point of the sight.

As for the rear sight I just want to drift it to the left a tiny bit.

I have a Dawson aluminum punch and I've tried heat and cold but I can't get the sight to budge. Damn you Springfield!

I think the sights are welded on. Lol

Thinking of getting night sights for my XDS when it gets here, welded would be bad...

The stock rear with a tritium front would be good.

I think all XD sights are a tough install. I'm going to put Trijicon SP01's on my XDs so that it is the same sights as my full size XD45 and my carry guns have the same system. I'm not a fan of the fiber optic front. The red on there really grabs my eyes attention and makes it hard to get equal height equal light.

                  I got this tool

                  (Standard sight tool)
replaced factory sights with Trijicon HD's and it was only a few minutes job. Can't think of any easier work I've done on firearms recently.

I was reading about that tool last night.

Still seemed kind of hard for them freezing the slide and using a long wrench.

So it was pretty simple and straight forward for you?

Yes, it was easy. If you line up everything right before applying torque there should not be any issues.

Why in gods name would you weld a front site.

No such thing as welded XDS sights.

                            ^^^^

They aren't really welded I think they heat the slide to expand the dovetail and they end up with a really tight fit. I don't think it's loktite that makes them so stubborn.

The regular XD sights ware also difficult to remove even with a vice, punches, and a baby sledge. My buddy ended up sending it to Springfield to get them removed.
