    HK Mark 23 SSE HELP!

    Hello Calgunners,

I have been trying to SSE a Mark 23 for my last SSE pistol.

I have seen these new from outside CA ffl's for $1600-$1800.

Needless to say I don't want to pay panic prices (maybe i'm cheap)

I have only found two vendors on here,

One that would'nt sell to me because I asked to pay by CC, guess thats a sin because now he won't sell to me even if I send a MO.

And one that will take CC, how ever Ill be at $2,925 out the door with a second de--threaded barrel.

Any help full Ideas on how to get a non threaded barrel Mark 23 to my local ffl would be great!

Digital instincts in Sunnyvale will transfer, as should Tracy Rifle & Pistol. There’s another guy up on the SF Peninsula who used to do alot of H&K SSEs but I can’t remember his name for the life of me.

I believe Red Skull Tactical in Milpitas was selling one. I want to say around $1,700. I would give them a call before going over there but I'm almost positive I seen one.

I think I got mine from Top Gun Supply, but maybe I bought it off Gunbroker. I can't recall.

HKParts.net is where I got my spare factory barrel.

I paid roughly $2400 total. I know a guy who works in a machine shop and he used a lathe to turn down the threads on the spare barrel. I didn't pay for that work.

So $2900 with tax/DROS/SSE/labor to de-thread the barrel... that's not too bad. IIRC the barrel was $400. I bought a factory thread protector too, just to protect the barrel while in storage.

If you are an HK fan, it's worth having. Great gun. Lots of fun. Keep in mind the size, and the non-standard rail. I wouldn't own one as my first or even second HK, but I've got 8 of them and for an HK fan like me it's one you gotta get.

It was $3000. I inquired about it also. Got to fondle it.

OP, if I had the money and extra SSE slot. I would buy it

                      HK Mark 23 SSE HELP!

Contact Tracy rifle and pistol and see if Mike can order you one. If yes, while its in transit, order a spare 23 barrel from hkparts.net for 400$. Bring it in to mike and have him de thread it so the factory serial number matched threaded barrel can remain unmolested. SSE as usual with the replacement de threaded barrel. Once you get it out of jail, you can send the de threaded barrel to jayson at IGF to have the de threaded nub removed and the barrel re crowned and refinished for about 100 bucks, or just leave it with the de threaded portion on the barrel. Save the serial numbered factory threaded barrel for when you move or sell it, don't ever install it while in Ca obviously. Have fun, they are nice pistols. HKwebshop has 10 round mags available as well, and they just had a 30% off sale. You'll also be eligible for the HK $200 rebate. Fill out the form and send it in along with your receipt and get two $100 visa gift cards.

Buying crap in this state is painful. I plan on getting a Mk23 myself but only after I move out of this f'd up state.

Plus remember that H&K is running a $200 rebate until the end of the month so it will help with the costs a little bit.
