    CZ-75 Cleaning Question

    Hey everybody!

I got a bunch of parts arriving tomorrow from CGW for my SP-01. I wanted to get a head start so I started taking gun apart and wanted to clean everything first. Do you guys have any recommendations on what to use to clean the internal parts? Since I'm doing a full detailed strip, I'll have everything out except they extractor.

    Thanks!!

Any solvent should do the job. I use Hoppe's.

Let us know how the installation works out.

      Thanks!

I'll definitely throw up some pictures after I get everything installed. I'm hoping everything goes smoothly since its my first time doing any modification to a firearm.

Hoppe's Elite is the way to go, no odor and a very good cleaner, a little more costlier than standard Hoppe's but worth every penny.

I recently did a full detail strip on my SP-01 and cleaned the entire gun using MPro-7 before installing parts from CGW. Cleans well. Drys well. Doesn't stink. I used compressed air to ensure everything was dry, put everything together and lubed accordingly.

Since you're doing a full detail strip, you might as well take out the extractor out. The pin is easy to drive out and it doesn't have to be removed entirely. There was a lot of grease caked in mine. YMMV.

          Good luck!

I never detail strip any of my CZ's unless I am doing trigger/action work.

I generally use Brake Cleaner or Hoppe's # 9 to clean the gun. I then use oil for the parts that rotate and grease for anything that slides across each other.

I do remove and clean the extractor and replace the spring with a stiffer one than stock every other year or so if it is used heavily. There is usually some build up there, especially if you use Bear Creek or some other moly type of burrets.

Have you noticed any adverse effects on the CZ finish using brake clean? I've been tempted, but brake clean can be pretty strong. I normally use denatured alcohol in a squeeze bottle. Not as efficient, but I never worry about the finish

I've recently been trying out Ballistol. Hickok45 finally got me curious enough to try it. Actually like it a lot

I have been using brake cleaner for years on my metal guns without issue. Just make sure that you remove the grips if they are rubber or plastic and that you use it outdoors.

You will have to lubricate all of the moving parts since brake cleaner will strip the dirt as well as the oil/grease.

For tupperware, I prefer Hoppe's over CLP.

I just use the standard Hoppes #9 to clean. Eezox for the fcg and gun surface. Brian Enos slide glide for the rails.

Gunscrubber(technically brake cleaner) works fine with CZ as long as you take out the rubber grips first.

Also unless you want some nice gouges, the trigger retaining pin is removed right side to left.
