FWIW: I have a Shield too and it's not my favorite gun. I am not an IPSC shooter or anything like that, but I have taken some advanced pistol courses and can general shoot pretty well. I am not sure why, but I shoot my Glock 26, my Glock 19, and my Browning HP much more accurately than my Kahr P-9 and my Shield. With the Kahr, its easy to understand and correct. I just have to really concentrate on my trigger pull and hold the gun on target to make good hits. But with the Shield, I find it just doesn't seem to group as well as my other guns. I really like the G26 and shoot that gun very well, but it is a double stack gun. As a result, I am strongly considering purchasing an XDS to give that a shot.

After shooting my Glock 26/27 & 19/23 a few years, I bought both the Shield and the XDs to see which one I liked. Like the feel, looks and finish of the XDs much better than the Shield but the Shield has a better trigger to me. Only have ~800 rnds through each. I shoot both of them pretty well after figuring out I need a lot more finger in the trigger. Others have said the same .. finding the right trigger finger position is the key to shooting them well.

If I could only have one it would be the XDs but since I 'can' have both ... well I probably will keep both

The grip is very thin and not easy to hold. I put Talon Grips on mine and it help tighten up my groups a lot! Just a thought...

I think this is part of the reason I shot so well with the Shield right out of the box. I have the "bad habit" of pressing the trigger at the first knuckle or even slightly deeper. Been shooting that way for 50 years, and not likely to change. With the Shield's small grip, if you're pressing with the center of your first finger pad, you're probably going to get twisting on trigger break. First knuckle gives you a much straighter press.

I want the 82nd Airborne. But sometimes all you have is a pistol.
              I fully agree...

              But...
Should the day come where I really have to take a long pistol shot... I hope I have my S&W Model 19 on my hip

First knuckle, huh? Interesting, I will have to give that a try. I was going for center of pad on trigger finger, as I do with all of my other guns. I am going to hit the indoor range this week with only my Shield to try some of the recommended techniques. I don't care if I can group at 2" or 3" at 15 yards, I know that for SD, you only need center mass hits at that range. But I also agree that if you can shoot your SD pistol accurately, you will shoot it better with a dose of fear, adrenaline and heavy breathing should you need to in order to save your life.

Op - not to give you a cop out, but several good pistol shooters I know or shot with couldn't shoot the shield well either, even compared to other similar pistols. Just something to consider.

                    That. So much that.

More on the Shield than any other gun around the same size I find for some reason.

I think it's just cause the grip is so slim, I don't have giant hands but when I picked it up it was obviously too small for my hands

I shoot my 9mm shield just fine (stock no apex trigger).

Very interesting... I too shoot all my guns using the center of the pad between the tip of my and finger and the first knuckle. I will try that!

I tried a 40 S@W shield at the range and was impressed with its ease of shooting and accuracy. It is a small gun and shooting a small gun is not really fun. The smaller grip and sighting radius plays havoc when first shooting. Don't stress. Try shooting it first . The Shield "I have been able to try most all of them" is the best in its class. Really they mostly are Belly guns.
