If it matters, its a 5 inch ported storm lake barrel in a full size m&p. Not a pro.

No Way! I own both too and the M&P is a definite upgrade over the Glock in many ways. I love my Glock for what it is, but it is 1980's tech.

i guess my next question is.... what 5" is worth getting? i have a 4" ppq and having shot the 5" this past weekend, wow!!!!! super accurate!!! nvr thought of the extra inch sight picture made a difference!!!!

I was thinking about a Ported MP, but time, price and availability made me go with the normal pro. I wish it had the slide cuts as I really like those! Maybe I will convince my gf to get a 5in PPQ for "herself"...

I started with a 4" M2. Liked it so much, I picked up a 5" next. Liked it SO much, I picked up a 2nd 5" to have a spare (and spare parts if needed). The 2nd even came with 10 round mags. The other two have blocked mags.

No on porting. Especially 9mm. Maybe in a competition race gun but then thats a lot of wasted effort that could be focused on outcome driven training using your carry guns and not racing a clock.

Add the Springfield XDM 5.25" to your list of guns with a slide cutout (not ported)

Glocks have affordable aftermarket slides in 5 and 6 inch. Ported or not. The way prices are now, its not a bad option if you can pickup a cheap used gen 3. Theyll also be there next year when sse price gouging dies.

I put a ported barrel on my Glock 34 and couldn't tell a real difference in accuracy or felt recoil. It did, however, cause the gun to fail to cycle correctly. It wouldn't eject properly.

Grip is better but trigger is terrible and mags suck too.

my MP PC 5" shoots " flatter", very minimal muzzle rise. Very accurate for follow up shots. I really like it. It's got some nice upgrades over a classic CORE for not much more ($120 more )

I've tried it in both a Glock 34 and an SP 01. No real difference. Don't even use those barrels anymore. If you really want to reduce recoil and flip, the best way is to reload for it.
I think the only competitions you could run a ported barrel through legally is Steel Challenge and Open and in Open a ported M&P or something is going to get eaten up by a compensated race gun running major.
Just don't see the point except for using the M&P PC CORE in Steel.
