    CA Roster Question

Can someone explain to me, when a handgun model falls off the CA handgun roster, how does it effect a private party sale?? Case in point, I've been looking for a S&W M&P 40, and now that it's not listed any longer, is it still legal in Sacramento County to register?? Or am I going to end up dealing with a bowl of worms???

Just make sure you understand what a PPT is.

PPT = A Private Party Transfer (PPT) is a face-to-face transfer between CA residents facilitated by a CA FFL dealer

PPT = handgun is exempt from needing to be on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale [PC 32110(a)]

Wrong. If the shop doesn't want to do the transfer then you shouldn't be giving them your business in the first place.

I have PPT many off roster guns over the years at several different FFL's without an issue.

Agreed. If the FFL won't process your DROS, then the FFL is stupid to be in the firearms business.

Asked and answered - off-Roster guns remain legal to PPT.

This question about the Roster is mostly about the law, so really belongs in the CA law forum.
