First range visit with my new shield.

I was pretty excited but here is the first ever compact, 9mm striker fired shots from 12 yards. Id just arrived and these were the first mags fired. Centerish hits are the shield, head shots are playing around with the sig a little further out.

The sig has been my only pistol for awhile and the difference in the trigger in the two is going to take some practice. By the end of the visit I had the shield hitting where I wanted, And the groups were about 3 inches at 10 yards. I don't think I like the break on the factory trigger and I have some talon rubbers coming to help get a more stable grip. Probably a apex kit in the works.

    Nice!

Took mine out for the first time last week too. Shot well. First mag, the gun didn't go into full battery, small tap and it went right in. After that 100% for about 150 rounds.

Standard ammo was super loud out of it vs my Glocks for some reason. Threw my buddy off when he first shot it. Report was pretty loud for a 9mm.

So I've been having issues with my shield, my brass has been flying back at me but all the brass has been extracting, I called s&w today, they said after break it it should get better, and as long as the brass is being extracted to not worry....well see it so far has about 200 rounds thru it, hopefully a couple 100 or 200 more it'll work itself out,, also is your ejector rod "loose" or does it have any play to it, the guy on the phone said that's normally for the shields. Just wondering I have one in 9 mm also

I have the shield in a .40. The brass ejects about 4-o'clock and far away. The Apex trigger kit is a MAJOR improvement to the gun.

I just brought mine home today. I will have to make time to get to the range.

So I received my talon rubber grips today, installed in 15 minutes and wow what a difference! The small increase in grip circumference is perfect. Fits like a glove and just grippy enough. Can't recommend this product enough.

Sandman I checked my extractor for you and it's very sturdy with no play and a strong spring. My brass was behind me but was bouncing off the wall of my stall first with a good deal of force.

Thats about all I noticed, I focus more on where my lead is going.

I find it funny that people are willing to spend upwards of $600 for a pistol but sweat and cry over a few bucks on stick-on grips. In context, it's just laughable.

As for the trigger, Apex actions are definitely smoother. But, I think upgrading the trigger itself will make a big difference. Their trigger faces are flatter and does change the way your finger interface with the gun. I noticed it on my full size M&Ps. For those on a budget, and can live with the grittiness, but still want to upgrade, take a look at the Apex polymer trigger. You can always add the duty action kit later.
