    Remington 1911 R1

I have owned a few 1911's over the years and have traded or sold them and really want to get one again.

I have been eying the remington enhanced R1 and really like it but have net heard much about it.

Does anyone here have one? How does it compare to a similarly priced SA?

Ruger is out because I don't like stainless 45's, want to keep it under 1000.

I have one. It's nice for the price. The finish is supposed to be better then the basic park job springfield does, other than that they are very similar. The mikspec springer has an arched msh while the rem is flat and the rem has better sights stock and I believe they are already cut for novaks but I'm not positive.

Mine had to go back to the factory at rem for some double feeding. Their turnaround was excellent and guns been good since except for a 10 round mag it doesn't like. Springer is supposed to have excellent cs as well.

Edit: Didn't notice you wanted the enhanced, I was talking about their gi offerings.

From what I understand... a cast frame, almost all MIM parts, and a weak finish. No thanks.

Springfield Range Officer would be a solid choice.

I have been looking at these too. All the reviews I have watched speak very highly of the R1 especially for the price. With Remington's crazy fast turn around, I would be far less concerned with MIM problems if you had to send it in.

I have held an R1 Advanced, but not shot it. It felt like it was well built, but wasn't as tight as my Springfield Range Officer. The trigger on the one I held had a fair amount of play, side to side.

I'm sure it's a nice 1911, not trying to down play it, but that was my impression after 5 minutes of playing with it.

Have one; use it, a LOT. It's my "go to" Wild Bunch 1911.

Couldn't be more pleased; a Best Buy for under $1,000.00 1911.

                Cheers,

I just looked at about 15 different 1911's while in Texas, it was there that I got my first look at the 1911 R1 they looked pretty nice but I liked the SR1911 a little better maybe the polished dark bluing through me off. They almost looked as though they were powder coated just IMO
