    Sr 1911 or Sig 1911

Yep another one of these, In the market and like these two I know the price difference is a few bucks but over all I like them both, Initially I only wanted the Sig but now I like the Ruger as well. Who has what or give me the negatives of both.

the Ruger has an internal extractor, the Sig has an external. Not sure the plus or minus of each, but 1911 purist seem to not like the external ones from Sig and S&W.

Otherwise, the Ruger is a nice value shooter, the sig will probably be more refined.

I haven't handled the ruger but I have a sig xo. The sig is a really nice gun. The fit and finish is top notch. It runs great and is very accurate. You get front strap checkering with the sig too.

This I know about the extractor thing and it makes no difference to me, I'm not a purist in any form when it comes to firearms they are just materialistic objects that we think we need to have. The Sig does seem a bit more refined but the Ruger is really nice except the grip pales seem thicker than most and I HATE the emblem so those will get tossed should I choose that gun.

Just remember that most sigs have the larger slide unless you get one of the traditional models.

What are the +'s or -'s on a lager slide?

My Sig TACOPS 1911 is a great shooter. It has a more square slide so finding a holster can be tough.

I do prefer the more pure 1911's.

                Can't go wrong with either.

                Enjoy

I just got my SR1911 out of jail yesterday and shot it today. It's honestly one of the few 1911's I actually want to own and I'm happy to get one before SSE ended.

                  Pros:
                  Build quality is quite good
Slide to frame fit is very good
                  Nice bead blast stainless finish
It's a series 70, no firing pin block
Trigger is nice, reset is decent
                  Metal mainspring housing
Backstrap checkering is good, and no front strap checkering (I've shot 1911's with aggressive checkering and I didn't like it.)

                  Cons:
The finish on the barrel is a little rough
Mine is kind of beating up the brass

I had zero failures today, shooting about 200 rounds, and mine appears to be fairly accurate. It took me about 4 or 5 mags to adjust, but then I was hitting my 4" steel targets almost every time at around 10 yards.

I'm very picky regarding build quality, fit/finish, and features, and I can honestly say this is a great gun that exceeded my expectations. I am very happy and would definitely buy again.

I love the slightly higher end build quality of the Sig, but Ruger customer service is like a warm, fuzzy security blanket.

Just a heads up, Ruger will not do direct warranty on SSE guns in CA. You have to send and receive outside of CA and have the out of state FLL ship it to you.

That makes sense...the SIG is what, a 20-30% more expensive gun?

Just different. I got a sig traditional model that has the regular slide. Can't use regular holsters is the only real downside. Sig makes a really nice 1911.

                              Cap'n obvious over here.

That sucks for most California residents.
