    Glock 20 Gen4 or 10mm Conversion...help me decide

I'm torn on if I should SSE a Glock 20 Gen4 10mm, pick up a G20 slide and barrel or just get a Lone Wolf 10mm Conversion. I already have a Glock 21 Gen4 that I completely am in love with, so the 10mm would be serving the purpose of giving me a platform to launch 1200 fps 200gr slugs, probably to use mostly as a water jug blaster but it would be in the running to carry on fishing trips in Brown Bear country as well.

The Lone Wolf Conversion would run about $340 if I wait to pick one up on sale. I like the longer slide/barrel for more velocity out of the Lone Wolf, but I've heard mixed reviews on the accuracy and reliability. With the G41 out now, I'm thinking that holsters for the longer barrel may be available. I would get it treated with their version of what seems to be melonite QPQ.

I like the reliability and polygonal rifling of the hammer forged Glock Barrel, plus you know it won't rust and that holsters are out there. The downside is that I'm not sure how the accuracy and velocity compares with a LW conversion. Looks like the cost would be about the same as the LW conversion.

I can pick up a G20 Gen4 at my LGS for about $665 OTD. Naturally the big plus is that I have a full gun and don't have to swap around stuff, but given that a swap would take about 5 seconds I think this is really just more of an excuse to buy another gun.

The $300 I save if I go conversion will just be spent on some other gun. What would you do?

    Get the G20.

1)Fatter grip so your hand can handle the 10mm recoil.

2)LW makes NINE inch drop ins for G20, but not G21.

3)They also make NINE inchers in 9x25.

4)I hear after a swap/drop in etc you are gonna want to re-zero sights anyways, so all the '5 sec' is only good for random blasting.

5)That stock G20 4th gen will be an investment grade gun in CA after 2014, but the extra barrel/slide for G21 will be just marked down 'gun stuff' only worth 1/2 to someone with a G21.

This guy seems all over the issue. Says some say stock G20 barrel ruins 10mm brass, etc. http://glocktalk.com/forums/showpost...71&postcount=2 Also says Glock says 'no' to hard caste lead, and isn't HCL what you want for Grizz?

Why you say conversation rig shoots higher velocity?

with 0 intention to sell, no need for an extra g20 if you want to save $.

separate slide b/c its easier overall and no re-zeroing needed.

If we weren't in SSE conditions I'd say get the conversion using the remainder dollars on mags and ammo. But since its near the end SSE get the 20 gen4.

i say go for getting another gun. I stopped doing that whole barrel swap stuff a while ago, you come to realize it's just alot more better (and making your collection fatter) by just getting a whole gun dedicated for that caliber.. Oh and FYI that's why i own two G20's (gen 3) and a S&W 1006, if i had more money, would get a Delta Elite but eh, trying to save up

Use you G21 and load it with 450smc.
              450smc out powers the 10mm.
The 450smc is the same dimensions as the 45acp but has stronger brass so higher pressures can be obtained safely.

i'm having the same dilemma, except using a G30SF, I'm leaning towards the complete upper, but funds may limit me to conversion barrel from StormLake

incorrect. the G20 and G21 frames are identical

true that there are extra barrels available for a G20 slide, but if the OP is thinking about getting a G20 slide/barrel for his G21, then those barrel options are available to him as well.

incorrect. a complete G21 upper (which is not what the OP is a inquiring about) will almost always be worth around $300. it is usable for someone with a G20, G21, or G41. Same goes for the G20 upper the OP is asking for. even if it cost you $400 to buy, you shouldn't have any problem unloading it for at least $300.

no difference in how you will lose some $$$ with a LW upper once it is used.

Yeah....get a new Glock 20 Gen 4. It comes with 3 mags. On your conversion scheme, you're gonna spend $100 on those 3 mags.

$400 for an upper isn't a good deal. Buying a LoneWolf slide and parts your gonna spend money on sights and mags and the special recoil spring.

A new gun solves those issues. Worse case, you sell the new gun for more $ next year.
