    XDm M&P Accuracy

Anybody have any personal experience with both guns? I'm trying to decide which one I want to buy and
I came across this site that claims the XDm is 2-3" gun where a M&P is a 4-6" gun? True or false? I've shot
both guns but didn't have the time or the variety of ammo required to test them properly.

My XDM 3.8 9MM was super accurate. Keep in mind that the XDM has a Match Grade Barrel. It also has a better trigger than the M&P.

False. 4"-6"? Get real. They wouldn't sell any if they were that bad.

      I have an M&P 9 that shoots 2" to 3" at 25 yards and a M&P 45 that shoots 1" to 2" at 25 yards. That's using cheap bulk ammo.

I have not shot the M&P but own a XDM 5.25 9mm and can verify it is very capable of 2-3" groups (@25 yards)

Les Baer needs to learn from S&W, their 3" at 50 yards is beaten by the M&P 2".

I have the CORE and the XDM 5.25. Go XDM.

Personally, being a Reloader and owning an XDm 5.25 and shot an M&P, they are both excellent pistols. Mind you groupings have a lot to do with the shooters ability to be consistent when squeezing off the rounds. Both pistols grouped about the same for me so that wasn't a factor in my decision to go with the Springfield. Unless you intend to use them for bullseye matches (which I wouldn't recommend as there are much better choices for that), the level of precision between the two wouldn't be a game changer in say USPSA as both are more than capable of cleaning courses of fire. The difference is really an ergonomic issue and that's a personal decision as to which feels better in the hand and natural point of aim for you. You really can't go wrong with either pistol and both have an abundance of aftermarket goodies if that's your thing.

I can believe it to a certain extent.

Of those 3, the M&P does have a lot of mush in the trigger. Shooting cold and back to back with all 3 guns, I see it happening. If warmed up and practiced, I see the grouping closing down.

I had 2 M&P 9 pistols that couldn't hit the broadside of a barn at 25 yards from a ransom rest. One had such poor barrel to slide lockup it rattled in the gun when you shook it. One was slightly better though. Multiple shooters, different types of ammo, didn't matter. S&W replaced the barrel in one and I wound up selling them both cheap.

                  They are out there.

                  I didn't have a problem at 25 yards with Glocks, HK's Beretta 92's, or 1911's, so it wasn't a shooter issue.

Edit: from what I've been reading S&W has been working to address the issue as they have received numerous complaints.

An excellent written opinion. Covers a great deal of ground and seems easily supported by the depth of your experience.
Great contribution...... So obviously I would mirror this response.

The early M&P9s had issues with accuracy due to barrel twist rates, but those have been fixed and anything new will be fine.

The accuracy of these guns will be identical, as will the performance. Anybody who says that one is garbage and the other is amazing doesn't know what they are talking about. That website looks like it is just one mans opinion. I seriously doubt he tested 10 of each out of rests with a variety of ammo, etc. The only thing that will be different is which you prefer, which you think feels better, etc.

First of all, he doesn't specify which M&P. Accuracy is different between a Shield and a Pro-Core. Next, there have been several generations of M&P's. As was noted above, the early ones had some accuracy problems due to barrel & slide. That has since been worked out.

I don't believe you will see much difference in accuracy between the comparable sizes of the current generation of M&P, Glock & XDm. All fine weapons, all will serve you well.

I have had many "high end" pistols. I have also owned more m&p's than some would believe, the worst accuracy ive gotten out of an m&p was sub 2.5" at 25 yards. Ive owned more than a few that can stay on 4" plates at 50 yards. I actually enjoy shooting at 100 yards with them as the accuracy is very impressive.

Ive owned every type of m&p pistol made. The whole 9mm accuracy issue is blown way out of wack due to the "Indian not the arrow" problem. Ive had 4 m&p 45's and all are more accurate than even my les baer custom carry. Alot has to do with the factory trigger and people not being used to the angle that you trigger finger meets the trigger. Kinda forces low left and erratic hits if not in a aggressive shooting position.

I've been shooting m&p since 2011 and have never had a ftf fte. My m&p 45 seems to be even as accurate as my brand new hk45.

                          YMMV

A lot of people dont shoot mp's well. I think low and left is most common. After a few hundred rounds i learned to shoot mine well. Its not necessarily the best gun to pickup and expect to be a tack driver with.

I thought my m&p 9 was not accurate until I tested it with a laser and bag rest. It was much more accurate than I thought. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1416189722.374434.jpg.
