    Taurus .357 & .44 Mag

I am looking for a low price .357 or .44 magnum revolver with a 6” or 8” barrel primarily for target shooting (wouldn’t mind a .41 or .454 but I don’t want to add to many variables to the mix).

I have 9mm and a shotgun for home defence so this is only for fun shooting at the range.

I have fired my friends .357 and .44 with magnum loads so I know what to expect and know I can shoot .38 and .44 special with these guns.

I would be interested in hearing how the Taurus owners feel about their revolvers.

And more generally I would like to hear from everyone comparing .357 to .44 (I am also intrigued by the idea of shooting .45 LC with a .454)

    Thanks in advance,
    Scott

I have had two .38 Taurus revolvers, a 4" steel and an alloy snubbie. The first I had for twenty years, probably had 1500 rounds through, and cleaned maybe twice. It ran fine. The alloy is way too light to be comfortable while shooting, but is a great pocket gun, and with 500 rounds downrange, hasn't had an issue. I think their fit and finish is adequate, and doesn't give much up to S&W, if anything. Bigger calibers might be different, I have no idea.

      Taurus

My 44-mag Tracker has proven to be a light, accurate, and reliable revolver. It will never replace any of my S&W's or Colt's...but then, it didn't cost an arm and a leg either. The porting on the Tracker models makes a big difference in the felt recoil (especially in the 44). For what its worth, check out the 44 Tracker. It's a lot of gun for the money.
