You will never regret owning a Wilson Combat 1911
If you can afford it, buy it.

MSRP for the base model classic is $3030 ..... Most likely if you were able to find a brand new one from a master dealer you could probably get it for that price (~$2800) new.

Also make sure you want the adjustable target sights on the classic, if not just get a CQB.

Also as far as its worth it, really up to you to decide if its worth it you. I love my Wilson but understand some might not value a Wilson and its costs the same...

Personally if I were you and were looking to spend that much and have an SSE slot, I would get an off roster Wilson with custom options and pay a little bit more.

If you want about the finest 1911 on the market a Wilson product will be it. There is no 1911 like a Wilson 1911.

Price seems a little high for a used gun. I would just get a new one. Used price should be around $2500 IMO.

              What he said ^^^^

However, you're obviously running out of time for SSE. You certainly won't be able to order anything custom at this point as the wait is much longer than end of year. But given that the price is pretty much in the realm of what you could buy a brand new Wilson for, I would at least jump on the phone and call the Wilson Master Dealers and/or anyone else who sells Wilson and see what else might be available. Unless of course this gun just does it for you. I prefer fixed sights but that's me.

CA certified Wilson Combat pistols use the old parts to comply with CA law.

The old magwell. The old safeties. Etc.

Off-list pistols offer the newer and much better Bullet Proof parts.

There was a short period of time when Wilson Combat shipped CA-certified models with their new parts. Not anymore.

                Are they great guns? Yes.

Do they offer the newest and best parts Wilson Combat has developed? No.

The important stuff (barrel, slide frame, etc) hasn't changed, but some parts have.

L84CABO is right that it's too late custom order a Wilson due to the long wait times, but there are still nice custom Wilson's out there if your looking and don't mind per-built ones where you might not get all the options you want or might get more than you want...

Try migunslinger.com or tractus speciality arms for nice optioned Wilson's ...

SVTNate in that the ca compliant models are not made exactly the same as a non ca model..

Here are the differences, based on a Wilson combat rep

                  CA Guns have

                  Old grips/medallions
                  Cast thumb safety
                  Cast mag catch
                  2-piece magwell
                  Old style sights
                  Standard markings
                  Standardized options (no changes)

Technically you could send it back to Wilson to replace the parts but that adds to the cost, but in theory is doable if it does bug you.

If you really want a Wilson Combat and willing to spend the money, do not limit yourself to a choice of one.
Look on GunBroker. There are more Wilsons than you would have time to look at and many in the 3K range give or take. Take your pick and have it shipped to your choice FFL. Most do not charge for SSE these days and what is $60 or $80 bucks in receiveing cost for a 3K wilson.

Yes .... WC is very ca friendly in they will continue to keep their ca compliant guns on roster (even though they have transitioned to bulletproof parts for all the other pistols) and you can ship a ca compliant pistol to them to make updates to it. They understand once you dros it in California, you are then free to make any updates to it you want.

Also you can send a non roster pistol to them for update work or warranty work and not worry they will not work on it or ship it back directly to you since its not a roster gun.

                          ^^^kind of related.
It is good to hear about Wilson being one of the good guys. most all manufacturers will honor their warranty regardless of the roster. They will also work on your gun if you send it in for other work. It is not the manufacturer's business to check roster for repairs.
The ones that pull a fast one saying they do not work on non roster guns (I heard Sig does this) are just ripping off customers by denying service and saving money that way. It is probably some bean counter's way of claiming he saved the company lots of money.
Warranty and repair work on guns are no different than that on your vacuum cleaner.
Manufacturers refusing this service are just buying themselves bad publicity.

How do the standard markings look like? I would consider going Nighthawk since they use all tool steel, but WC has better resale value for sure unless you have one of the unique NHC models

^^ if you are going nighthawk, be sure you do not get one of the off center machined frames. Yes that is true about a 3k nighthawk. Read and check before getting a nighthawk.
