    Taurus PT92 SS - Thoughts???

I know nothing about Taurus guns but was at Turners the other day getting new ear protection and saw this:

(Borrowed the picture from the Taurus website.)
For those in the know, what are your impressions of Taurus? I like it because it has a frame safety. It will be a range gun for the most part so I would like a gun that has good workmanship and accuracy. Compared with a similar Beretta is the accuracy similar? I prefer the slide safety over the Beretta frame safety but if the quality of the Beretta is far superior then I can overlook the frame safety thing.

Thanks for your input in advance!

I have never owned one but my good firend/gun dealer who is former PD, SWAT and FBI says the Taurus PT92's are built better then the Beretta's. He said that the beretta's have a part that needs to be replaced every 5,000 rounds but the Taurus does not. Thats all I know about the PT92, hope that helps

Taurus PT92 / PT99's are good guns, IMHO. They carry a lifetime warranty but generally you most likely won't need it. The gun is built using left over Beretta tooling and machinery that was sold to Brazil after Beretta finished a contract long ago. The design is left over from the older Beretta 92 design when the safety used to be located on the frame. Other than this difference, the gun shoots and feels like the 92FS / M9. I've had both side by side and all I could really notice was that you pay more for the Beretta and less for the Taurus.

Make sure you inspect the gun itself before you buy it, but in general, I give them a thumbs up.

If your mind is not so set on SS you might want to reconsider.
PT92AR is on sale today at Turner's.

I got mine plus several full-capacity mags (over 10 rnds ) before the state banned the so-called hi-cap mags.

I haven't shot mine a lot, but when I have, I've been happy with it.
            Haven't had a problem yet.
Booknut...I've taken all my 5+ capacity smileys and buried them in a cache out in my backy....oops...I think I said too much!

Gnote, I am a member at a range that has a PT-92 for rent (Northridge has one, not sure about Burbank.) You could always shoot it and see what you think.
I have shot maybe 100 rounds through it, and liked the gun very much.
