Mind your Ps and Ps and Qs......

Picked up my 5" PPQ today with "organic" 10 round mags. I liked mine so much I felt I needed a "spare" while SSE was still good. One slot left, Oh what to do, what to do!!

      Wow...lovely ladies at 4, 6, and 8 o'clock...what to do?

      Shoot them of course!

Saudadeii, question for you: While everyone raves about the PPQ trigger, what is your impression of reliability? Have you run across any rounds that your pistols don't enjoy? How about magazine availability? Accessories such as holsters?

I ask because I have limited experience with the Walther PPQ (only shot about 50 rounds of American Eagle FMJ in a single session) and I still have an open December SSE slot to burn. I've gone back and forth about getting a PPQ and would be interested in your opinions of the pistol NOT having to do with the admittedly outstanding trigger.

What's the recommended procedure for PPQ magazines? I have an M1 ordered... Can the 15 rounders be swapped for 10 rounders somehow? Is the consensus that it's okay to have them blocked to 10 rounds? Or do I just leave them with the FFL and buy 10 rounders separately?

For the M1 you can get the FFL to block the mags to 10 rounds. You can also purchase P99/SW99 mags in 10 rounds. Both function fine in the M1.

I bought the 4" first 3 months ago. The 5" 30 days after that. Both have only seen 124gr Freedom Munitions reloads and have run fine using the blocked 10 round mags. But I only have about 150 rounds through the 4", and about 200 through the first 5".

On that note, my FFL blocked the mags to 10 rounds as part of the SSE fee. So I have 4 blocked mags. I was able to score some 10 rounders from Exlie Machine when they had them a couple of weeks ago. Now that this latest came with 10 round mags, I think I'm good.

I really do like the "feel" of it. It fits my hand nicely and I don't feel clumsy aiming it. The trigger itself feels very solid. I have some M&Ps and the trigger feels "flexy". This is not a comment on pull weight, over travel and such, just the trigger itself. I may need to out an APEX poly trigger in them.

Last month I picked up a Sig P320. It too has a sweet trigger. The difference is that the Sig has way less takeup and breaks sooner. The PPQ breaks further back. Both are crisp and have very short resets.

FYI, at the time of this posting, Riflegear has both 4" M2 and 5" w/10 round mags in stock. They must have come today.

                          saudadeii,
Nice meeting and conversing with you yesterday. I was the guy beginning DROS on a PPQ 5", as you were picking up. I started researching a Sig 320 based on your comments. Pleasure and hope to talk with you again.

congrats. if it's your primary defensive handgun, two is one and three is better.
