    Glock 19 keyhole

I was at the range this evening shooting some bulk reloads (I think) at 10 yards, and somewhere in the middle of my 10 rounds, this low flyer appeared on paper.

    Appears to be a keyhole.

Any reasons why this would happen?

It's never done this before (to my knowledge)

    Thanks,
    -Rich

Lame ammo? You did say bulk reloads right?

Utc, yes bulk reloads, I forget the source, never had a problem before with them.

          Did it happen again?
How many round fired? Round count on gun? Dirty barrel? Lot's

Utc. If I recall correctly it was in the middle of firing 10 rounds. Gun has around 3k rounds through it. It wasn't freshly cleaned but no more than a few hundred since last cleaning. Ammo is most likely the issue. I will check the barrel tomorrow to see what it look like.

Probably just a random bad round. If your gun continued or continues to function well, probably ammo.

Was the paper hanging free or fastened to a backboard? Paper hanging loose will leave all sorts of funny looking holes. Taped/stapled to a cardboard, etc., different results.

If you only shot ten rounds total on the target, the one on 10 looks like a keyhole too

Looks like two shots side by side to me. You have a similar one on the number 10.

If you can't recreate the problem with a box of 50, I wouldn't worry about it.

yup, same here. I do believe it's two shots in close proximity.

It looks like a keyhole to me. Free hanging targets do make it difficult to tell sometimes but that one hole looks to have bullet smudge marks all around it. This is caused by insufficient spin on the bullet which can be caused by insufficient velocity. Very possible a low powder charge in that one round. I am kinda surprised that it cycled the gun if it was that low velocity, but stuff happens.

Unlikely that anything is wrong with the gun. If it happens again with that ammo you might consider switching vendors before you have a bullet stuck in the barrel as that's the next step in low velocity after keyholes. Be sure to check any stoppage of the gun for a stuck bullet before cycling manually with that ammo.

Unless you are seeing this consistently over a significant number of rounds, this is probably a one-off ammo (bulk reload QA) issue.
