    Valor Shooting low

So I have taken my valor to the range twice and it seems to shot low. I let someone else shoot it and it also shot low for them. I mean about 6" low too at around 10+ yards.

Maybe I'ts just not a good fit for me I dunno, or maybe it's the straight 8 sights?

I think it was closer to point of aim when I tried sight picture 3, but it really feels more like the front sight is not the correct height or something.

Maybe someone else who has one can chime in?

Front sight is too high maybe, if you shoot from a bag or get someone else to shoot it.

    What ammo are you using?

In my opinion, even if it turns out that it's your shooting technique that causes it to shoot low, it's your gun so you can just get shorter sights on it if you can't adjust the rear sights up.

I had a gun that I kept shooting a touch to the left, so I just drifted the sights over! LOL!

Yea it was shooting to the left too, but I looked at the rear sight and it wasn't centered so I drifted it back to center. No height adjustments on the night sights it came with.

Did you cover the target with the front sight or lollipop the target?

lollipop is way to low, It shoots best when you cover the center of target with the tritium dot on the front sight (below the post), but even then I feel like it shoots low...

I tried some 230 grian federal, some 230 gr reloads and some 200 gr hollow point reloads in several powder charges. The hottest 200gr hollowpoint reloads I made shot the best.

It took me about 50 rounds to get to used to the straight 8 on my Valor.
To be clear, are you saying that it shoots low even when you cover the target with the front sight dot, or it shoots low unless you cover it with the dot? Option 2 is how the straight 8 works.

I don't understand. Is he being forced out for being an ammo-grabbing fascist or for being a failure as an ammo-grabbing fascist?

Seemed low no matter what but I guess I need to bring it out again to be sure. I mean that's how my HK Expert is sighted in as well, but don't have any problems shooting it, and obviously the trigger on the valor is much better. I think I will measure the height of the FSP when I get home tonight.

My Valor shoots POI=POA when aligning the top of the sights, which is my preference. My Guardian, however, shoots high - evidently set up for 6 o'clock hold - so I am getting the .140 front replaced with a .180 most likely.

I did not understand why they would choose to do this, but there must be a reason.

I'd say shoot one more time to confirm and then email DW- they will make it right.

My front sight post measures .18" tall. Is that the correct height?

I believe .180 is standard for the Valor

Let another experienced shooter try it out before doing anything foolish.
California's politicians and unionized government employees are a crime gang that makes the Mexican drug cartels look like a Girl Scout Troop in comparison.

My friend shot it and it was shooting low for him too, until he got the hang of it after the first couple rounds. I guess it's just really sensitive to flinching, or maybe I'm still getting used to the sights. After another trip I was doing much, much better. I'm still having a hard time holding the 1911 correctly though I guess, I used a thumbs forward grip and I have been grabbing the front of the trigger guard with my left index finger. For some reason when I'm shooting I am getting premature slide lock (I don't feel myself bumping the slide release either but maybe I am...). I will have to take it out again as soon as I can load up another 500 rounds.

Quick cellphone pic I took this morning while drying some brass.

Send it to me with 300 rounds. I'll test it out an make sure it will shoot POA on how you hold the sights. I'll mount a new front sight for you too and clean it up before sending it back to you.

You can hold your front sight higher and learn how to hold your sight at different ranges. You can try different bullet weights to see which one shoots to POA. If you have lots of ammo that shoots great through that gun you can get the right height front sight for it.
