Why did they use heat? Looks simple enough to just remove the button, drill the hole over sized a little or turn the mag button OD down (or make a new one)then slide in a sleeve and reinstall the button.
I used to have to do stuff like that all the time.There are 3 kinds of people in this world.

The mag release is permanently pressed into those.
