My First Handgun
Seems like the consensus was this thread is useless unless it has pictures. Now it does!
Here are my favorite andwers to my questions. Some were answered here, some I read on these or other forums.
I am wondering where to go from here. I would like to get a membership at a range, but I want to hold out a bit to see if Gunther's gets their range permit approved. I work less than a mile from Gunthers, and I'm about 10 miles from Iron Sights. I may just buy a membership to Iron Sights and see if Gunthers gets everything together in a year.
Shooting good, no range fees better. Dont wait. One year membership here I come!
Ammo wise I am thinking about the 1000 bulk Speer Lawman ( http://www.luckygunner.com/9mm-124-g...d#videogallery ), would anyone recommend a different practice round or are the reloads from Iron Sights just as good?
This pistol is like Rosie O'Donnall, it eats EVERYTHING! I ended up buying 1000 rounds of 124gr Speer Lawman. Ill prob take 50 rnds with me and buy 100 reloads at iron sights every trip. Perhaps run 200 speer through it first.
I was thinking about an autoloader, but maybe loading by hand would be better practice? I dont plan on loading a mag under duress anytime soon but who does other then front line personnel?

After a year or so (and god willing court precedent, plus all other obstacles put aside) I would like to get a CCW permit. What would be the best path of training? Even if I cant eventually get a CCW the training would certainly not be worthless.

My plan is to practice about 100 - 200 rounds a week (justifying a membership to a range) and I am a tinkerer so I would like to disassemble and reassemble the gun fairly often. Other than incorrect installation are there concerns about constantly stripping and reassembling the Beretta?
No. But reading it looks like instead of going straight to the range I will field strip, and clean out the "shipping grease" with brushes and CLP, wipe everything clean and reapply a small amount of oil to the naughty rubbing parts.
I wanted to thank everyone for having such a rich resource of information, thanks CalGuns! Time to head over to the WTB page and see if anyone wants to get rid of 92fs mags!
