Dimensional differences in 1911s-re conversion kits

I'm eyeing a gsg .22 comversion for a commanding officers 1911 that I own. My issue is the kit is supposed to fit full sized 1911s and commander models, some ads say it doesn't fit "officers models".

Commanding officers model is a full sized grip at least (by this I mean the rails might be shorter) 8 rounds instead of the officer 7. It takes full sized grips.

I understand the dust cover might be shorter, .1 inch? The information I find readily on line says the officers has a different sized frame than the commander and full sized models, but I think this means grip area. If it has full sized mags, they would protrude, and I'm not sure if this is what they mean by it doesn't fit.

Is my frame the same as a commander frame?

Preemptive strike, I already have a 22/45 and a nice Colt Huntsman .22 pistols.

Photo of the pistol I am asking about.

Commander slides usual barrel lengths are 4 - 4.5" depending on who the manufacturer is. The rails on the frame are machined to a different length compared to the Government model.

I know the standard barrel and slide are 5", commander is 4.25 with a bushing, officers is 3.5 and the teeny one is 3".

My issue is, is there a dimensional difference between a commander frame rail length and the frame rail length of my commanding officers model.

I'll measure the rails on my Colt Commander later when I get home and post it here.

I don't see how the shorter rails would affect the function of the conversion kit, I thought the Officers models typically use 9mm style ejectors - that might cause problems.

I have the Kimber Match Target 22lr kit, I just tried it on my Series 80 Colt Officers and it fit fine.

Heck of a deal on the GSG kit over at Palmetto State, I got my Kimber kit from them last year.

Yep, $139 delivered with two mags. If it doesn't fit, look for it in the sales section

Found this 3+ year-old thread on another forum.

OK so here is the breakdown. I am in the market for a new gun. Thought about another shotgun or playing with the ar but decided to go handgun route. I went to the local shop today to look at 1911s since I don't have one yet and was looking at Kimberly ultra carrys when a friend of mine whispered...

Seems your gun is a Commander frame with Officer uppers.

              More:

I am wondering if the Combat Commander frame is any different than a full size frame. I thought that the slide was shortened by about .75 inches, but that the frame remained the same. I was thinking

Here's a pic of my Colt Commander (black) frame with a full size Springfield frame.

Just an FYI for anyone interested as the OP asked about the GSG kit, photo of my Kimber conversion kit
on a Ruger SR1911 Commander (no gap on the dust cover)

and a Colt Series 80 Officers (yes that's an idiot scratch but still no gap)
