So I know glocks are great guns, I've just personally never been a huge fan. I'm looking for a 3" sub-compact and was wondering if the Springfield sub-compact is comparable in quality to the glock? Any suggestions?

Glock 27 vs XD

Several buddies own the glock 26 and XD sub compact. I shot both and ended up buying the 9mm sub compact XD. Shoot both and see which one you prefer. To date my XD has performed flawless and am very happy with it.If you can see the "Big Picture" you are not concentrating on your front sight post.

XD is just as reliable, safer, well made as glock, and will eat anything you throw at it. Most people find it more comfortable to shoot. I bought a XD 9 subcompact over the Glock 26 based on how it felt in my hand. The grip safety is an added feature. The XD subcompact is just SLIGHTLY thicker than a glock 26 and a bit taller (grip to slide) but for me MUCH more comfortable and fun to shoot with.Comment

If you want a gun that dissapears its a g26. The 3'' XD just is not a sub-compact, its fun to shoot because it has a great ballance, and feel. Very nice piece, But if your after a true BUG, go GLOCK.FOR SALE: XD45, 24/47 Yugo Mauser, AK RPD AES-10bComment

I work at a range here in socal the XD looks nicer but is tempermental with reload ammo but only if the casing has been used more than twice!! but glocks they eat up everything and are the most reliable weapons made IMHO for what its worth!!USE YOUR VEHICLE OF SALVATION MY BROTHERS GO BUY A GUN!!Comment

my xd's haven't been tempermental with reloads... my xd9 service and xd40 tactical eat it all up (although i haven't really fed my tactical much since i got it).
get whatever feels better in your hand and whichever allows you to get more rounds downrange, on target faster. you're not gonna wanna practice with a gun that's not comfortable in your hand...
that's just MHO. i'm sure you'll be happy with either.CRPA Lifetime MemberComment

it has been written that glocks are fixable at home , one can by a dvd to learn to become an armorer and get parts all over the world . Springfield doesn't sell parts and you break their warranty if you go past field strip so if you need an extractor..... you have to send to them Springfield)who happen to have great service. something to consider if you shoot lots .
I bought the 3 inch xd 9 manly cause I can shoot it well , the glock seemed strange to me , but I neve gave much more that a few rental sessions at the range . Glock 19 is next on my list just to save for a katrina type disaster.
The glock one can own preban high cap mags with the xd that theory won't work cause of the recent born on date.Rancho Punetas CaliforniaComment
