    Convertible Ruger blackhawk

Anyone out there have or seen the Ruger Blackhawk Convertible? Like the idea of the a revolver that shoots .357 mag, .38, and 9mm. Most likely looking at the 4.5" barrel length. Any thoughts on how it shoots or anything else about it?

My father has a Blackhawk convertible in .357/9mm that I've shot extensively over the years. While the 9mm conversion cylinder fits and fires flawlessly the accuracy is less than stellar. With the original .357 cylinder installed my groups tightened up considerably. Based on feedback from other forums my experience wasn't uncommon.

Regardless of this, I'd recommend picking one up if it appeals to you.

Been there and really enjoyed that.

        I started out w/ a .357/9mm w/ 6 7/8 barrel, then a .41 magnum w/ 6 7/8 and finally a .45 Colt/ACP convertible w/ a 4 5/8 barrel.

The 9mm didn't shoot very accurately, but was fun for my first revolver.

The .41 was for wrist-breaking handloads ... and they nearly did.

        I recommend the .45 convertible.

Heavy hardcast .45Supers are perfect for hogs etc. if you don't have any hot Colt loads.

The ACP cylinder keeps you at the range longer w/ more affordable ammo.

You can get it bored for 460 Rowland and have every bit of a .44 magnum too.

I have one of the .357/9mm Blackhawks...it is a fun gun, built like a tank. trigger pull is typical for a Blackhawk.

I will echo the 9mm isn't as accurate as the 357 but it is a fun plinker. I picked mine up used...would have gotten a longer barrel if I had bought it new.

The 9mm headspaces inside the cylinder on the cartridge case rim, so no moon clips needed, which is handy.

At the end of the day I personally prefer smiths or colts to shoot. I like the ruger but it's not the first gun I reach for on range day.

Here is what I plan to do to mine when a get a chance. Got the parts, just need to settle and clear the workbench, etc.http://www.xdtalk.com/threads/my-cus...ckhawk.181950/

I agree with the link that it looks better too.

I don't know why "the most advanced single action made"(isn't that like saying "the smartest guy in Golden Gloves" or "Obama's best decision yet" or "the most affordable new Ferrari"?) doesn't have cylinder indexing to hold it at the best point for loading, and click to next. The after market trigger kit is supposed to fix that, so it will be like my cheap Puma 1872 22.

Factory grips musta been sized back when the average American man was a bit smaller.

I wish Ruger would make a 10" like they have for 22 and 44 or even 14" Blackhawk in 357, since 357 can actually use extra barrel to get up to speed.

I like it. Christmas is coming. I'll take a .45 with the 5-1/2" barrel. Thanks.

Love my .45 Colt/ACP convertible. As far as power I worked up a Ruger only load using IMR4227 under nosler 250 gr JHP that are moving at 1037 fps. I also have some 185 grainers that are going around 1400 fps IIRC

I have two New Model Ruger Blackhawk Convertibles in .357/9mm. One with a 4 5/8" barrel and 6 1/2" barrel. Great shooters and my 9mm's are just as accurate. 124gr Xtreme RN with 4.2 grs Bullseye.
