    Kahr CW9 First range day

So I got my Kahr Arms Cw9 and hit the range. Over this weekend I racked and released the slide probably at least 200 times (the alleged break in period for this gun.) I also took some 000 steel wool to polish the feed ramp and to the contact points for the trigger because the trigger was slightly gritty when it was brand new. Also touched up the slide release contact points with the steel wool to make that a little smoother. Headed to the range to shoot 175 rds. I shot Freedom munitions, Federal and ZQ1 (turk ammo.) All of which were FMJ (I'm cheap.) Accuracy was pretty good, but my groupings weren't perfect. This was my first time with a tiny pistol, with sights I'm not used to, and a DAO trigger. Reliability was 100% perfect with all ammo tested. Later I will be testing some HP ammo....soon as I get a chance. I bought this pistol brand new for $287 bucks on Gunbroker. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase. Some complain about the mags edges being a bit sharp when you load them, but they weren't as bad as they say....then again, my last pistol was a Makarov and that things mags will cut you. I def recommend this pistol for those looking for a compact pistol or an inexpensive one.

    Good job OP!

I would have tried my luck at the range first without improvement just for ghits and siggles.

Glad you are happy with your new purchase.

I have two cw9's, two cw45 and a cw380 with another on order. My full size size pistols are XD's but for carry guns you can't go wrong with Kahr.

I'm with Erik though. Don't polish up a gun until you shoot it (don't fix what's not broken). Kahrs already have very polished feed ramps. Also racking the slide does help some but it's not the same. You can lock them open to help loosen the springs but only shooting live rounds will really pound out the rough spots.

As far as accuracy. As good as any pistol I've ever shot. Left handed, unsupported at 20 yards I can string 5 shots without much effort. I also have a video I'm about to put up. I took three different types of self defense ammo (2 were +P) and some basic range ammo. I alternated rounds in my mags so as to not only test how they ran the rounds but to stress the pistol to see how it handled going back and forth from high to standard pressure.

I shot about 200 rounds this way and had only one failure to feed and that was user error when I did not fully seat the mag. Other then that, not a hiccup. I use to shoot 1911's and I was always tinkering with this or that to make them shoot right. My Kahrs? I'm never had to do anything more then what I've mentioned. My edc has over 1k rounds though it and I've not done anything to it and the only ftf or fte were caused by my own errors.
