SSE and CCW

I heard some chatter about possible issues with purchasing an off-roster SSE pistol and then registering it for a CCW. I can't recall the thread but the discussion left me with the impression that SSE pistols couldn't be used for CCW.

Does anyone know more about this topic?

Depends on the county. If your sse was in a caliber other than what it was originally you may not be able to list your pistol. See the San bernardino ccw thread

I live in Orange County and I have 2 of 3 pistols which are SSE pistols on my CCW permit.

As long as you know it's the same caliber as it was originally, you should be fine. Exception can be your IA that may set a parameter regarding SSE.

Locally, OC is fine, SB is no-go, RivCo is no-go. Not sure about SD.

In Placer County you can have SSE guns on your permit and they don't care what caliber it was SSE'd in. I have a .45 in jail right now that was SSE'd as a .25.

Ventura county is a no go on SSE unless you keep it as such.

So are you required to bring in your DROS paperwork ? Or does the issuing agency have access to it ?

they have access to it by running your serial number. the caliber will show what it was SSEd as.

Another no go is Alameda County ( but that Sherrif doesn't give out many anyways). I got mine thru the city I live in. They were ok with it. If there is an issue, then sell to your wife or friend and then sell it back to you. When you sell it used the DROS should just show a non SSE pistol.

I think I read here somewhere, that if you pawn it, it gets re-dros'd back to you in correct caliber. Not sure where that post was.
