Since Ive decided to use my 1911 as my home defense gun, I was wondering if theres a way to mount a light on it? I got one of those cheap 20 dollar rail mounts from Amazon and its too loose on my gun. Do yall know any good ways to put a rail on a regular 1911?

Our pistol accessories include non SBR/NFA Pistol Conversion Kits, Picatinny Rail Adapters, Charging Handles, Holsters for Sig, 1911, Glock, S&W, P80, and more.
I have one I purchased off Amazon. I ended taking off the ridges and did a stippling job on it. Overall, I like it.
Alot of Youtube reviews and RT has a FB page where customers post their firearms with the grip. -
Damn, i just got a set of pachmyr grips cuz I the front grip ridges. Do the rails work well for your gun otherwise?http://www.recovertactical.com/

Another options will be the Surefire MR07.
Drill/tap screw on:
Dawson Precision is the experienced shooter's source for top quality pistols, parts and gear. Our state-of-art facility keeps us on the cutting EDGE of technology, providing you with the highest quality products at the best price.
If I had to choose, I would go with Novak's offering.
And lastly what I recommend is to just buy one with a rail already.Comment

Do you really want a light on a home defense gun ?
If you shine a rail mounted light on a family member (sweep a room), you are also pointing the muzzle at them.
Do you want to point a loaded gun at your kids ?Last edited by 92E2; 10-17-2014, 10:09 PM.Comment

I live by myself mostly so that aint an issue. I would think a having a light is a good thing so i can readily identify any threats?Wise men seldom speak. - ArcusComment

Take a good home defense class and/or a good CCW class and then make your informed decision. There are other cases/scenarios where you may not want a light on a home defense gun.Last edited by 92E2; 10-17-2014, 11:14 PM.Comment

I live with my wife and 2 kids. I have a light on my HD gun. I'd rather point a loaded gun at my kids, and not pull the trigger. Than to accidentally shoot one of them by not being able to identify them.Comment

To each his own. God forbid the day we have to shoot someone in self defense and get our 1k, 2k, 3k 1911 confiscated. Thats why my hd handgun is a glock it wont hurt as much if they keep it for a few years or so. Good luck op.Comment

Thanks. My 1911 is an ria. So no big loss haha. Im not anticipating having to ever use it. I choose my 1911 over my glock 26 cuz it has less recoil.Wise men seldom speak. - ArcusComment
