You can always get a H&K USP Tactical which is similar to the Mark 23, all though the USP is a bit smaller in size.

Having paid close to $3K to get my Mark 23, I'd say yes.

I bought a new Mk. 23 for $1900 plus $400 for another OEM barrel to keep the original intact, plus an OEM thread protector to screw on to the factory barrel.

It's worth it, and it's most certainly not "similar" to the USP Tactical. Field strip a Mk. 23. It looks like a USP on the outside. It's not a USP.

The Mk. 23 is ridiculous. Ridiculous in size, in price, ridiculously fun to shoot.

The MC Operator is just a run of the mill production 1911. Meh.

The MC Operator does pop up for PPT now and then, you can risk it and get the Mk. 23 now with SSE and the MC Operator later with PPT.

honestly man i know the feeling, I felt the MC operator was the bst SHIZZ in the world before, but hnestly a TRP o another 1911 would be a better option, now the MK 23 whoa boy, thats a gun, it holds more rounds, looks sexy as hell i think its freaking awesome.

byt he tone in your post this is obviously going to be a range toy, maybe home defense gun. i say go Mk23 i think the extra money is worth it. an mc operator will alway appear via PPT, and arent they still on the roster?

and i mean Solid Snake did fight thru Shadow Moses with that gun....just saying

Loved MGS 4, but to me Shadow Moses was the Mission that made Snake legendary

damn brought me back to my middle school days this thread

You dont see Mark 23, no need to explain why you should get one. Tons of information and discussion why. Plus Snake rocked that badboy!

I shot a Mk 23 many years ago. Stupid accurate gun. Way out of my price range though. In my mind it is one of the few handguns to warrant its high price however. EBR works has one last I checked, great people. They also have a USP tactical if you want to save $700 over the Mk 23.

Isn't the MC Operator on roster? Could've swore my buddy dros'ed one last week without going through SSE.

If money allows get the MK23.. 1911's are a dime a dozen.

Oh and MGS is awesome. Til this date the best game I ever played.

I think the MC Operator is on roster. Pretty certain actually. The MK 23 will increase in value over the years as it has since they were first released. The Operator will retain value, but not increase as much. If that is even a concern.

Yeah I just checked PX9105ML MC Operator is on roster..

You are correct about the MK23. Could've swore it was 1700 just two years ago.

without a doubt go with the mark 23.

I think you have to buy another Mark23 barrel and have it cut down or at least the threads removed. My FFL said they would not be able to give me back the factory barrel even not installed in the gun. So I'd be buying the gun without the serialized barrel. Pretty much lost interest at this point.

It sounds like a real pain to attain one in CA so I decided it isn't worth the extra cost. At 1700-1900 I would buy one but not at $2500 +
