    Glock 21 vs. Glock 21SF

i was wondering if anyone has any info on the differences of these. pros and cons? the glock 21 fit my hand well enough, is the slim frame version any major change? is recoil changed?

The SF is significantly slimmer than the standatd 21. It feels very much like a 17 in my hand. Can't tell you much about recoil since I haven't fired one. Hope that helps.

G21sf is "short frame" (not to mistake with G36 slim which is single stack slim frame) the width is still the same as G21 but the distance from the web of your hand to your trigger is shorter. I hear nothing but good things when it compare to G21, but ppl still complain it's too fat.

Still too big. I was expecting a real frame shrink like you'd get froma custom smith -- nah -- Here's mine with TRP

I was really excited when I ordered it --
then crushed. I have short fingers. Nowhere near as ergonomic (for my hands) as a 1911. Got rid of it.

You want slimmer Glock get a 9mm one.

Got my 21SF from Irvington Arm last month – still in the break in period (in a way). Changed the trigger to the 3.5# and night site - that’s about it (at least for now).

Grip is big? Kind of – what do you expect with a double stack in 45?? But I have big hands… so the grip is not a big issue to me.

Here is a side by side photo with my G34.

Honestly I would'nt go with the slimmer frame. I like the larger grip better as it seems to seriously help me control recoil. I guess having more to hold onto helps me keep those sights level.

My thoughts exactly. I shoot exactly where I aim with my 21 but still learning to control my Colt 1911. The wider frame seems to permit me to isolate my trigger finger for better control if that makes any sense.

*I don't have HUGE hands either...as much as I would like to =)

I went to the range today and met up with my shooting buddy who picked up his 21SF this morning. Naturally, I had to help him break it in.

We've both been shooting regular 21's for some time now, and didn't notice any big difference between the two as far as accuracy or recoil. For myself, the one thing I did notice is that the sights didn't line up the same for me with the SF when I first pointed the pistol downrange. Not a big deal. I suppose it would come together after some time with the SF.

But for now, I like the confidence with my old style 21 of being able to look at the target, raise the pistol, and have the sights lined up on target for me. As much as it seems like a 2X4, I've adjusted to it ok.

He did get a great deal on the SF though...$529....that persuaded him to buy one.

However, the Glock 21SF is Still Fat.

GLOCK 21s will sometimes blow up. That's ONE reason to switch to a 21SF

well any gun can potentially blow up right...?
wasn't aware of the exploding 21's. i imagine that's a rather freak occurrence though.

now as far as magazines go, 21sf mags will not work in the 21. but 21 mags will work in the 21sf, right?
if this is the case will 21 mags be obsolete and impossible to find?

The newer mags work in both guns.

There are three variants of the Glock 21SF.
                          1. Pic rail + ambi-mag release
                          2. Glock rail + ambi-mag release
                          3. Glock rail + std mag release.
The only variant on the CA approved list is the Glock rail + std mag release.

The newer ambi-mag release cut magzines will work in the Glock 21, 21SF (all variants), 30 & 30SF.

The older non-ambi-mag release cut magazines will work in the Glock 21, 21SF (Glock rail + std mag release), 30 & 30SF.

So, if you buy a CA approved listed Glock 21SF, your older Glock 21 magazines will work in it.

All the older style Glock magazines will not work in a Glock with the ambi-mag release.

Not as freak as Glock would like. Look up on Google "Glock + Catastrophic failures" and it will tell all about the exploding M21s.

I always heard the problem with glocks and catastrophic failures involved the 40 cal guns. The 45acp round has the lowest pressure of all glock calibers. Mark
