    Glock parts interchangabillity

Is there a matrix that outlines what parts are interchangeable with what other parts? Is there a way to figure out what frames can work with what slides/barrels/springs and what mags?

    For example, if someone has:

    Gen 2 G17
    Gen 3 G27
    Gen 3 G36

What parts from other models can work with what?

    notice I listed a 9mm,.40, and a .45, but curiously no 10mm is listed...yet.

Maybe someone could go buy assorted slides/barrels/spring & mag combo's to end up with more.

There is no real "matrix" that I am aware of, but it is recommended that the standard (9mm) 2 pin Gen 2 frame should not be used on the larger calibers (.40, and .357SIG) as it may put too much stress on the frame.

Generally speaking the standard calibers all share the same size frame for a given type (full, compact, or sub). The same applies to the large calibers (10mm, and .45).

If you're talking about the smaller parts like Firing Pin Safeties, Triggers, etc the combinations could be almost endless. You best bet would be to get a copy of the entire GLOCK parts list and see which part numbers are different.

This is a bit long but explains it pretty well. Basically, the .45 and 10 mm guns share the same frames ( the large frame) and the 9mm/ .40/ .357 share the small frame.

Gen 2 G17, Gen 3 G27, Gen 3 G36 are not interchangeable. They do share common parts like the slide plate cover, resest spring, trigger pin, connector, mag catch spring, but you can't swith barrels/uppers with your 3 models. And small frame (not 10mm, .45acp) Glocks do not interchange between full size (G17/G22), mid size (G19/G23) and compact (G26/G27) because the lock up is different.

I just saw a glossy sales book at an LGS that had a section that lists parts that are compatible between the different models. Don't know where it is online on the Glock web site.

I like to get one of those sales books.

I'm mostly interested in what kind of frankenpistols I can make out of what I have.

              ie:
              G17, maybe buy a long slide/barrel/spring/mag in 9mm or .40..?
              G27, maybe buy a 9mm slide/barrel/spring/mag(?) to end up with a pseudo G26..?
              G36, maybe buy a 10mm,....etc? (don't really know about 10mm...)

maybe it's all more expensive than just buying more complete Glocks....!

                Try Glockmeister.

On the homepage, bottom left, is "free tech info" and they have a list of compatible frame/slides.

Most of the individual parts pages have some info about what they're for, also. You might be able to use part #'s to cross-reference.
