They normally run 100% from day 1, just a tuned CZ is pretty hard to beat as they can be one of the best triggers out there and SAO can be better than some fully tuned 1911's.

The CZ P-01 has been put through probably one of the most difficult tests and it has come out well beyond the tests parameters. It is known as one of the most reliable firearms any civilian can buy.

I'm not in disagreement that a tuned CZ can have a good trigger- but so can many other stock guns that have been modified. For example, I was shocked at how much better a stock Beretta 92fs trigger is compared to the Cz-75b that I owned especially after the hype that I read about the CZ before I purchased it. Also, I don't have huge hands and the CZ had a long trigger reach for me even in single action. The Beretta I'm sure could be tuned to be better also, though I don't think there is a SAO version of this gun but I could be wrong. One thing I will say is that CZ has GREAT customer service and will take care of you if any problems arise. Btw the p-01 does look amazing and have seriously considered giving it a shot since it has tighter tolerances in regards to quality control.

Out of the box, the P-01 still has a pretty long trigger reach. You may not be satisfied with the stock performance as many upgrade to the 85 combat trigger to help this problem. I do agree that the trigger reach especially the 75 line of firearms are rather long. If trigger reach is a main complaint, I think the new 2014 P-07 would fit your bill much better, as with the newer trigger shape, it really makes the reach of the trigger much more manageable. I personally find the stock reset a little on the long end on it though, but with about $130, you can easily modify the trigger to have one of the best triggers out there. After completely modding it, it is very comparable to a Sphinx SDP which, even after the mods, is about double the price OTD. Your mags will work in the P-07, but it will stick out a 1/8th of an inch and it wiggles a bit because the CZ P-07 uses magazine bodies that are a big more wide. Albeit they still work if you can live with magazines that stick out a little.

Which is exactly what my CZ has done, and I'm pretty sure the overwhelming majority of them do as well.

Sounds like maybe you had a lemon, even the best have some.

Can you elaborate on the problems you had with yours?

This upset me as im convinced CZ's are poor quality pistols but don't want to get rid of perfectly good magazines.
The pistols are legal to own - you have to SSE or PPT to buy them. You can't buy them new from a store unless you're exempt (LEO).

I don't much about the CZ clones but Red Skull Tactical has some TriStars in stock last week.

The 75 is one of the most copied guns in the world. That is obviously because it is of such poor quality. Further, any gun using the same mags is likely to be a copy. Ever photocopied a photocopy, or taped a tape? They tend to be of lesser quality than the original. So you want a gun that quite possibly is of lower quality because you are convinced that the CZ is of low quality but don't want to get rid of mags? Interesting logic.

You say that a gun should function 100% out of the box, but there are a few flaws there. First, no manufacturer of anything has 100% reliability of 100% of the product that leaves the factory (not even places where everything is done by hand). It's just not possible. You are being convinced by a sample size of one. Meanwhile, police agencies and military units around the world have been using CZs and their variants for decades. They must be wrong because you think yours was bad.

Further, the only "problem" you describe is the trigger feel and reach. If you think the SA trigger reach is long, then it is my opinion that you need to reevaluate your definition of "pretty big hands". The gritty trigger is a well known and mostly temporary issue that you would have known before buying if you had done the research you said. In fact, both these "problems" should have been easily noticed before any money was spent. Given no other complaint was made, I am confused by your 100% reliable comment as neither of those issues deal with reliability.

In addition, one should not equate refinement for reliability. There is a reason unrefined muscle cars with looser tolerances spent less time in the garage than hand built European sports cars.

That being said, if you don't like the trigger, then you don't like the trigger. Not having one, I cannot say for certain, but many report the EAA clones do not have the camming issue that you do not like. No idea what the reach is though.
