    CZ enlightenment (school me)

I have one SSE spot left and leaning towards a CZ pistol. Not sure of 75-SP-01 or P07 or P09. I have enough CC pistols and a DW 45 and PPQ 4". Thinking I want a hammer target pistol in 9mm. Budget will be in the sub $800 range.

Please inform me of all the versions and styles of these great guns, i.e. models above and the sub series of Duty, phantom, tact, etc?

Better yet, let's just hear all the fan boys suggest their favorite.

sp-01 if you like safeties or sp-01 tactical if you like decockers. then cgz or cz custom trigger work when youre ready.

The SP-01 worked over by CGW is an awesome firearm.
Tactical Sport (TS) is almost the same thing right out of the box.
The TS does not have a rail, is heavier, has a longer barrel and slide, and is more expensive. It does make for a great range firearm.

"Duty" represents the old style 07. The new 07 dropped the word "Duty" and is now called just P-07.

"Phantom" is a poly framed SP-01. Similar ergonomics but lighter.

From what you listed for a "Hammer target pistol" The SP-01 (Steel frame) and the P-09 (Poly frame) would both fulfill your needs.

        Good luck.

Can you get a tactical sport here for $800? I'm not asking that to be a jerk i genuinely don't know but i don't think you can.

Well for a Target shooting pistol, the SP-01 from the three choices you provided are most likely better options. Because the firearm rides on full rails opposed to a couple metal tabs in a polymer frame, the SP-01 is inherently going to be more accurate. I am not saying a P-07/09 cannot be accurate, just not as accurate. I like to think my P-07 is a combat weapon with good enough accuracy for such a purpose.

The SP-01 is also going to command more weight than the polymer framed pistols. This will make perceived recoil less than in a full polymer body pistol.

My suggestion for your purposes would be to get a SP-01 with a safety and convert it to single action only, while installing the CGW upgrades for a 9mm CZ that has a trigger of a 1911.

If you must have a CZ to SSE, I would suggest the newest gen P-07 2014 model or SP-01 Tactical if you prefer decocker.

The SP-01 w/ manual safety and 10rd mags is still roster so you can perhaps acquire that next year.

If you just want a solid SP-01 from the get go, SSE the SP-01 w/ manual safety and standard capacity mags.

No, the Tactical Sport would be above the listed budget hence the word expensive was used.

Why SA only? What are the benefits? Not a hammer guy other than 1911 so is a decocker reliable and are they better than a safety?

Thanks for input so far everyone

Yeah, I didn't realize. Thanks for input. Might pick up one next year and go back to drawing board on last spot.

For a CZ target gun around $800 it's going to be tough. CZ's are accurate out of the box for a duty pistol. If you want a competition/sport shooting pistol you're going to be spending a little more or look at the shadow line.

CZ custom has a CZ 75 Shadow in DA/SA and SAO for around $800 I believe.

its better for people used to a 1911. I like decockers and da/sa its all personal preference. the sao tend to have nicer triggers though.

If you gone SA, it makes it so the SA has no take up and a much shorter reset distance. The SA/DA has a longer reset and will have more take up just due to design. The trigger mechanism on a DA/SA needs travel distance to clear the firing pin block which would cause this, where a SAO setup, the firing pin block is removed and thus doesn't need the increased travel distance in order to do this.

A SA/DA trigger will never be as good as a SAO handgun. I own fully modified CZ's in DA/SA and even. Sphinx SDP which costs over $1,000 and they arent as good as a SAO tuned gun.
