Dead Ringer Snake Eyes

I've been looking for a zero maintenance, fast acquisition sight for my xd40 v10 range gun. All it's for is shooting steel and paper. Had anyone seen or used these?

Every few years someone brings out a new wonder sight like those. I think I've seen at least four different variations of the ghost ring sight in the last five years. That one looks like one of the hardest to use. I've played with them a little and found most of them to be faster at 0-10 yards, and slower past 10 yards. Jeff Cooper was a huge fan of ghost ring sights, but only on long guns where speed counted over long range accuracy.

You might want to check out 10-8, warren, and xs big dots. If you don't like night sights a gold bead front with a 10-8 or warren rear works really well.

So how durable are the new reflex sights? I owned one many years ago, hated it. It ate batteries faster than I can eat a pizza, couldn't hold zero, and was never bright enough. Since that waste of $$$, I've been very reluctant to buy another one.

Can pistols still fit in a normal holster after installing those sights? They look big.

I haven't tried any of the ghost ring sights but I do like the Advantage Tactical Firefly sights.

There are a number of good ones out right now. Doctor has a really good one, Burris has the FastFire III which is ok, vortex has a good one, and Trijicon has the RMR which is probably the best one.

The shotgun sights are a lot more intriguing. It could be an interesting 3 gun sight.

I tried out the Snake Eyes on a Glock 26. I found them very easy to use and easy for my heavily myopic eyes to bear on target.

The big caveat, though, is that this was pretty much my first time shooting. I had nothing to unlearn and no prior muscle memory. For someone used to regular sights, it might be disorienting.

I was thinking of putting them on my M&P when I convert it for home defence, but that's a long way off yet.

Here's my problem with sights such as these. I was always taught to acquire the target and look at it, not the sights. If you do it right you bring the sights into your line of sight. And you look over the sights, past them to the target. Maybe that doesn't quite make sense. But you focus more on the front sight, rather than the rear. Bring the gun into your natural point of aim and you should almost be able to line up sights auto-magically. I could be wrong but focusing on rear sight to me seems not the way to go.

I've shot plenty of aperture sight rifles. Hell, my favorite thing to shoot is the garand. And I'm well aware how accurate irons can be. But I think the premise with rifles and handguns is different. I don't know. It's worth a try. I guessing that the idea never caught on for a reason.

Look at the sights those guys and gals use. That competition is all about speed and accuracy.
Holos are such an advantage in that sport that they put you in open gun class with their use. Mini holos will make being accurate with a handgun super simple. I have seen this on the range over and over.

I'm onboard with the sight picture, focus on the target and front post, natural point of aim.... I'm also onboard with the comment of if it worked the pros would be using them. But, if one doesn't shoot professionally, doesn't have $300+ to spend on a holo, this might be the next next thing. 😕 what to do what to do....

Hang on now, those shooters got there by mastering the fundametals of pistol and shooting competition every Saturday and Sunday, 40,000 to 60,000 rounds a year for decades. Actually only a few are paid professional shooters, and a few more get sponsoed and pick up some product. The remaining 95% are just trying to get better. But that takes hard work and discipline.

New magic sights are so much easier....
