    New Gun

I bought a "baby" Desert Eagle in .40 S&W and took it to the range yesterday. I put 100 rounds through it and had some issues. Through the first 80 rnds or so I was having problems not chambering a round so the gun would jam. The last 20 rounds went through without a hitch, we'll see next time I go to the range but if it works I'll chalk it up to a "break-in" period. The gun shoots good and I had a nice 2" hole at 10 yrds with only a couple strays (which can probably be attributed to me lol).

I found the jam problem odd. I own another CZ clone in the witness and I have never had a problem with that gun. I've probably shot about 5000 rounds over the past couple years through the witness and not once have I had a jam. Really reliable gun.

So has anyone else shot the BDE, if so did you have any issues, or have you had any issues with other CZ clones?

A man once fired 3 shots in less than 6 seconds with deadly accuracy - he didn't have an "assault weapon".

I had a similar problem with my PPK - it didn't seem to like HP ammo until about 500 rounds - now - no problem.

But that's an old design, and was designed for FMJ ammo - so I'm not sure why a modern pistol would have that problem.

    I agree it's probably just a break-in issue. . .

When I get a new handgun,500 rounds is what I consider as a "break in" period. If problems persist after 500 rds there my be issues. I run various H.P.'s and FMJ and bullet weights.

I also have a baby Eagle in .40 cal, and I've never had a problem with it. I bought it used, so I guess the break-in was already done for me.

the baby eagle was one of the first guns i looked into. on gundirectory there are a lot of good reviews but there were these lemon reviews. failing to chamber or eject and other such "jamming" issues. of course information is scarce, break in period or what kind of ammunition etc.

some people just give up on something too fast, other people genuinely try everything to no avail. never know until you give it a chance though.

My CZ97 gave me some similar issues when I first bought it, but that may have had to do with the fact that I only gave her a light oiling after purchase. The test date indicated it had been sitting in some warehouse 3 years before it found me so that may have been a bit negligent on my part.

After the first cleaning and 1000s of rounds later, not one jam to speak of even though I've misbehaved and taken it on 2 or 3 range trips without cleaning. Incredible gun.

yeah i think a lot of the lemony sour reviews i read were more from feeling entitled to some impossible standards for machined parts.
