Is there a better polymer .45 than the HK45? If so, what is it and why?

I prefer my USP45 /w Hogue Grips and Dawson Precision sights, it just looks cooler overall.

Better, just better? Ok here are a few:
Glock 21 is about $500 cheaper.
Any 1911 in that price range is much prettier.
You said price is no consideration, look at an Ed Brown, Wilson, STI, NH, ...
Ruger SR45 is even less than the g21.
Sig 220 if you like the square look.
S&W 4506 if you like older looks.
        CZ 97 in polished blue.
Ruger Vaquero 45acp/45LC if you like John Wayne.

        They are all good.

          HK USP45 Compact.

I shot both HK45 and USP45 compact regularly and the compact is just feel/shoot better in my hands.

I have the USP 45 and the HK45C. I like the HK45C better overall, but I shoot my USP 45 full size better, most likely due to that it has the match trigger installed.

I will eventually get a decent 1911, but there are many still on the roster so I've pushed back that purchase.

Thanks for all the suggestions. And sorry if I made it seem like the HK45 was the absolute best polymer .45 out there, but I had heard from many sources that it indeed was. . .in terms of a complete package. As for personal experience it fits my hand great, and I shoot extremely well with it, so that is why I am cautious searching out another .45 that might be a step down.

Clearly I have to go and feel/rent/buy some of the others on the lists above to get a better overall picture of what is out there. Most intriguing at the moment are the FNX45, Glock 21, and Mark 23.

Why does it have to be polymer?

I could have bought have a dozen Hi Points for what I paid for my hk45fde. Go figure.

Surfer, Hk 45 is one of the nicest and super cool. However, super cool seems to change every so often. There was a while back two years when you could not find an hk45 or his sister P30 for any price. Now they can be seen readily. These days it is the vp9 and sig 320. Four years ago, CZs were all over, last year we had to buy them from as far as KY.
Changes every year. Remember, it is hard and I mean very hard these days to find a bad one. They all make them well and reliable.

Everyone has their opinion, but FNX 45 is the current reigning polymer .45 champ to me.

my son has had his G21 SF for about 5 years now and it hasn't given him a moment's worth of problems; in the world of handguns, he believes the sun rises and sets with the G21 SF. my favorite .45 is the w german Sig Sauer P220 (any variant). one size does not fit all.
