    No Tom.

The problem is the different recoil spring and the larger hole in the Gen 4 slide.

Yes. A 26 would be a good choice...

my 19 has been plagued with too many issues out of the box. I would go 17.

              26 over 17 and 19 anyday.

Depends on what you use your G34 for right now, I would get the G19 to have some variety in your arsenal.

If your G34 is used for HD and range shooting, then I would look into the G19 for a different flavor in 9mm Glock pistols. However, if you use your G34 strictly for competition and it's setup for that, then I would get the G17 for HD, range use, and for everything else.

I have the home defense setup already

I handled a gen 3 19, and a 17 today. The 19 just feels too squished. Maybe if I was to undercut the trigger guard and remove the finger grooves it would work but I dunno. My hands aren't even that big, and the I get serious pinky over lap with the 19.

The 19 feels squished to me also. I have not handled one with an undercut though. When I had to thin the herd recently it was an easy choice to let go of the 19 vs. the 17.

I have 6 Glocks- a gen 3 17,19,34 and gen 4 17,19,34. If I had to pick one it would be the gen 4 19 for the reasons stated above.

Go with the 19. The 17 is too close to the 34. You can still use your 34 mags in the 19. The 19 will also be good for CCW if you ever move or the regs in your county change.

If you're a big guy with large mitts, the 17 might be a better choice simply because you'll pinch the pad on the bottom of your hand between the mag and the bottom of the grip. Especially when you're shooting hot and heavy with fast mag changes. You'll bleed. Many shooters with large hands experience this with the 19. But you learn quick to watch the pad of your hand when manipulating the 19. You won't do it more than twice before altering your grip during mag changes.
