Talk me out of buying a Shield

I'm seconds away from placing an order on a S&W Shield 9mm. This'll be my last handgun purchase for some time and I've decided I want something in the CCW category.

Here is what I am looking for:

    Budget: $500 OTD or less
Caliber: 9mm (I've shot .40, and .45, although I enjoyed shooting .45, I would prefer something in 9mm due to ammo cost and overall comfort)
    Purpose: Carry handgun
Extra?: Looking for something thin, hence the single stack Shield that I am considering.
Not looking for a Glock; I already own a 19, and will probably purchase a G37 sometime next year.

Are there any others I should consider? Or should I just pull the trigger on the Shield.

Shields are great guns. You won't be disappointed. Beats a Kahr or Glock any day.

Consider the XDs, but it's going to go over the budget a little. If you do not like it, trade/sell it for a Shield.

As much a Glock guy as I am, I actually agree with above.

I love my shield also. I shoot it much more accurate than I thought I would.

If you get then go for the no-thumb-safety/no-mag-disconnect. If you don't mind having those "features" then just use your last slot on another SSE and pick up a CA version next year.

Personally I would get a Walther PPS. A shield with the Apex trigger will run you about the same anyway.

Talk me out of buying a Shield

I had one for a while as my carry gun but frankly it's a low end gun built to a low price point. I do like it for its size however.

I'm currently carrying a HK P2000SK and I'm much happier with it even though it's fatter.

In your price range I think the Glock 26/27 is a better choice. That or the M&P 9C.

Love my shield 9mm. Shoot well. And - I've put all Kinds of ammo through it - and it just eat it. No FTF's.

I'm picking up my 9mm Shield Monday and ordering an XDs 9mm at the same time. Couldn't decide which I wanted so naturally decided to get both.

Pretty sure I'll like both, but can easily sell either if I don't like one.
