Would you trust a conversion barrel for EDC?

Just picked up my first glock from a fellow Calgunner. A glock 23. It came with a conversion barrel so I can use it with 9s and have essentially a glock 19. Been reading that some people don't trust a conversion barrel for EDC...how come? Ive shot 200 rounds so far with no FTF no FTE or anything so far with the conversion barrel (storm lake).

Not a question of trust for me. I have several thousand rnds through my G23 with a 9mm conversion barrel without a glitch, ever. But here, carry guns have to be the original caliber. That definitely varies a lot depending on your IA. Post your location and someone from there might answer that.

Unless your having reliability issues why doubt it more than anything else you use?

Some factory barrels can have similar to the same specs as conversion barrels. I say if it's reliable, and you want to, run it. I'd run mine if that was my only option. Luckily I have multiple guns/calibers to choose from.

I never understood the people that never trust them. If you do the conversion correctly, feeding issues due to tighter tolerances would be my only worry and that has only ever been an issue with my own reloads being a little longer than they should have been.

get a stock barrel and carry that. Some IA's will require it, might as well do it now, and get proficient with it.

Did it not come with the .40 barrel?

Why would you buy a .40 but then want to carry as a 9mm?

If lives were at stake and all I had in front of me was my G23 with a conversion barrel and some 9mm ammo, would I use that? Of course.

Would I plan for that outcome? Ah no.

I'll back peddle a little .. I've never had a single problem but I've also never run any SD/HD ammo through it. Obviously G19 mags are required and several people are having FTF problems with G19 mags and popular JHP ammo. The problem seems to be caused by the followers. I haven't seen any discussion about this problem and after market or conversion barrels, so a non-stock feed ramp might eliminate the problem or might make it worse. Here's one recently: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=962209

But before carrying it, I'd definitely test lots and lots of my defense ammo with all my mags.
