    SR1911

I picked up my first 1911 today. Ended up going with a Ruger SR1911 that I got for $635 out the door. Havent shot it yet but it feels great in hand.

Ive got 500rds of Prvi 230gr FMJ inbound and Ive also got two Chip McCormic 10rd mags coming.

Ive noticed that it does not at all like to drop magazines freely. So far Ive only tried the included 7&8 round mags. Hit the mag release and it drops about 3/8 of an inch and stops.

Any idea on what is causing the hangup with the mags?

Figured I should add a picture

You can't beat that price. They are good 1911s. You will be happy with it. Just prepare yourself for your next 1911. Can never have enough 1911s.

Im not noticing any scratches on the magazines.
I called Ruger to see what they had to say, she said I just need to get some rounds through it and it should wear itself in

Ya I am really pleased with the price.
Ive already got other 1911s that Ive got on the want list

You have to hold the mag release till it drops clear for awhile.

                  BTW... I like your style:

I have a commander size. All my mags drop free. Try loosening your grips screws. Make sure there's no grease or other debris in the mag well.

Nice choice. Better than a Les Baer!

                          Nice one and great deal!

Mine had a 6lb trigger out of the box but put in a C&S sear spring and it dropped to 4lbs.

BTW the 8-round mag is exactly the same as the ones that come with a Valor. Don't toss it. :-)

Trigger bow could be the problem with mags dropping free.

very nice. I've been wanting to pick up a SR1911 before the year ends. $635 otd is $100 less than what I'm expecting to pay for one locally.
