Threw one in jail till next Tuesday. Prolly going to throw on some nite-sites. Was curious of any other basic upgrades that may be worth it. Is it worth it, to put the stainless guide rod in??

I pick mine up on Tuesday in .40 cal. It has the night sights but I wonder about the steel guide rod too. Seems like many have done that. My research does not show too many upgrades. I did buy three extra Sig mags from a Calgunner.Calguns Contributor

What have you done for 2A lately?

I have not changed over to the SS guide rod. But it still runs flawlessly, accurate, and full of fun. Many of my friends keep trying to buy it from me. Not gonna sell though.Sorry, not sorry.

I've had one for about two years now in .40sw and have to say it probably the best value out there IMO I wouldn't mess with the guide rod mine has functioned perfectly as is only thing I've added is a streamlight TLR3 for nightstand use. Congrats on the purchase.Comment

I have almost 6K rounds through my 9mm 2022. Original guide rod is still working fine.Comment

Congratulations.
Make sure you give it a good cleaning before shooting it and realize that there may be a break in period for this gun. Lube the wear points on the outside of the barrel but realize that it locks up really snug when firing so the bluing will wear off quickly. Don't let that bother you, everyone's Sig has the bluing worn off the barrels. It has one of the best off the shelf SA triggers around, but you need to get used to the DA trigger too. You need to pull almost all the way to the back before it fires (which is where the SA trigger sits which makes it so good).
Don't sweat the plastic guide rod, it works fine.Comment

added the same light, and mine sights on my stand too.
recently swapped out to TFOs and work great especially outdoors.Comment

I have the 2022 in 9mm...
I had a slight issue with the OEM guide rod in mine, so I switched to the SS guide rod. I haven't been able to take it to the range since installing it yet, so I dont know how much better it will operate during live fire.
I think my OEM guide rod was a little bent or warped from the factory, it did not cycle very smoothly and every now and then i had issues with it going to full battery. You would have to tap the back end of the slide and then you could fire it. I found a wear mark on one side of the guide rod from the spring so I replaced it with the SS guide rod.
It cycles much smoother using snap caps than with the OEM guide rod, but then again the OEM one was not 100% straight. My issue is very rare tho, so rare that countless hours of searching on google, here on calguns, on sigtalk, and other firearms related forums I have not been able to find anyone else with the same problem.
Other than that it has been a solid gun after the initial break in period (~150rds)...Peace is that brief moment in history when everybody stands around reloading. - unknown

The 2022 is the only SIG I know that doesn't need any upgrading out of the box. It is just a matter of finding the backstrap that fits your hand best
All you need to do is clean it and shoot it. I've played with the stainless guiderods on 2022s belonging to friends and didn't really notice any difference....because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's TaleComment
