I WILL NEVER BUY A RUGER AGAIN

I bought a Ruger P95 9mm from Davidson's. Brand new in the box, it was for my wife's home defense gun. I took her to the range so she could fire it. She put a full mag in, the slide was already locked back she released the slide lock, but the slide only went forward about a 1/2 inch. She tried to clear what we thought was a nomal jam but the mag would not release or come out the mag was jam up inside. My wife safely handed me the gun so that I could try to clear it. The mag would not come out so I tried to pull the slide back to eject the ammo one at a time, but the slide would not retract, it was completel locked up. I had to pull as hard as I could to to line up the slide lock to push it out to get enough room to safely remove the ammo. I get the pin out to make the slide loose enough to put my finger inside the chamber to push out the ammo one at a time. It's the only way to get the ammo out. I still can not get the mag out. I get home we call Ruger and get the run around. Ruger gave us the we dont care about you and your gun attitude. I just got the thing to so I'm getting mad now but we give it a week. We call back Ruger they tell us to push in a pin on the side of the frame, it would fix the whole gun. I push the pin in, the mag release finally works and I am able to remove the magazine. I tried loading another mag with ammo and it jammed and wouldn't cycle again. I did the same thing to clear the gun. We called Ruger and told them what happened. Ruger made it sound like it was our fault and we never even fired the P95. They said they will look at it and get back to us if they think it's our fault we will have to pay to get it fixed, I don't see how it would be our fault. They said it will take 5-6 weeks for me to get it back if it's a manufacturer's defect they will fix it and it will just show up; if it's not then we'll get something in writing so that we can decide whether or not we want to pay for the repair. We send the gun in and called again to try to get better answers and we just got more poor attitude. Now they have our gun and we don't know when it will come back or if it will be fixed I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER RUGER AGAIN my wife is using the baby DE now
that was the 4th Ruger we had, it is now the last as we sold them all....

I've never owned a Ruger centerfire pistol and have never wanted one. On the other hand, their revolvers are strong, reliable work horses and you can't be their 10-22s or their rimfire pistols when it comes to cost, quailty and reliability.

I've had solid Ruger rifles and revolvers in the past. My P-85, however, is about the worst shooting pistol I own. Maybe they just don't do autos well?

Come to think of it, my Mini-14 couldn't shoot a 4" group. But my M-77 was OK. And my Super-Blackhawk shot well, though not so great in my handgun-incompetent hands.

That gun has gotten some bad press. Go to the High Road and other places and you'll find plenty of people not happy with them. Good luck with yours.

We are "Simple Civilians" According to the former(late?) CEO of Ruger. Since then I have never bought a Ruger, let alone looked at one. I dont care how reliable or inexpensive there firearms are, I wont buy from a firearms company who doesnt fully believe in the our rights and give common courtesy when questioned about problems with there products..

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. Rugers are usually well built with a reputation of being built like tanks. I've had 5 different Ruger firearms that I've never had issues with. If you got this one from Davidson, it comes with a lifetime warranty. They should replace it Good luck and hope they do you right.

Don't tell Bwiese about how crappy Ruger automatics are. He loves them.

I avoid all centerfire Ruger automatics but LOVE their revolvers, semi auto rimfire pistols and rifles (10/22 and MKII, 22/45, etc)

+1 on that. I bought a pair (couldn't pass up the price) of P90's when 1st introduced that ran, and ran, and ran. I took a chance on a gun shop consignment P345 and got hosed, it's an expensive paperweight in the safe that I wouldn't wish on anyone, certainly not any Calgunners.

Could it be the quality control on their steel vs. polymer framed pistols?

I've never had one of their revolvers, but owned several .22 pistols and they also ran long & hard.

Yikes, I just bought a P95 from a Calgunner last week. Hope its one of the good ones. I'll let you know.
