i have a 1911 a1 can i use the barrel of colt mk1V i tried putting the mk1V barrel but its tight i cant even put it inside the slide
pls any pro reply

Can you even start it in then hangs up half way? Could be the chamber area too big or the lower lugs/feet of the barrel are too wide.

You could use that barrel, however there is some fitting required. Are you using the barrel bushing from the MKIV as well?

Also, what make/model is the 1911A1 that you are trying to fit this to?

Should go in, doesn't mean it will work. 1911 barrel's need to be hand fitted to the individual frame and slide, part of the old school aspect of the design.

As said above, it must be fitted, preferably by a competent smith.

1911 parts may be interchangeable but that doesn't mean they are "drop in"
Get a gunsmith to fit that barrel to your slide.

dude i think you mean springfield 1911 a1 is that right other guy mentioned to use right bushing that good advice also need to check upper lugs lower lug link and hood some fitting may be needed or u can buy drop in replacement barrel this link has good info on measuring barrel fit and timing

Apt user name.

Here we go...

Grab a 1 or 2 pound hammer.

Place the barrel in the slide, install the bushing on the front of the barrel and put the slide in a vise with the bushing end up. Tap the bushing in place until it's seated. Grab a 12" pipe wrench or Vise-Grip. Work the bushing back and forth until it's in place.

Start with that. Report back when you're done and I'll give you part 2.
